You can be shieldless.

Shields help to drop your rank quicker than weapons, and when attacking someone with a built MS help keep your weapons (and fleets if you got them built) from being destroyed a little slower.

Yes, you're MS will be hugely less affective if you are massing another MS since your Weapons will be destroyed every attack, and you're MS will probably be blown through as well on first attack. With shields your weapons will last longer meaning you don't have to repair as often if you're in a battle.

If you are just using your MS for the extra addition for farming, you're probably going to have to repair Weapons after every attack you hit someone with a built MS (regardless of the size of your opponents MS).

Now if you're massing an MS that is blowing through your full shields on first hit anyways, just leave them dead for that MS because they are useless until you dull down the strike quite a bit.

Hope that helped and then some

Empy summed it up pretty good :)

MS in farming - probably best to equip your entire MS to try to neutralise theirs as much.

MS in MS Wars
- Person online - Unless your MS is big enough to really fight theirs, you are doomed.
- Person offline - If your MS is big enough to take them on, equip it all. If you are having to mass their shields, just equip your volley's until their shields are down, then you can mass through their MS. Have a LOT of naq on stand by.

Remember though that it is your MS strike that adds to your defence and strike when you use your MS. Your MS shields though mean you don't lose that strike.
