Wats the purpose of untrained mercs...?

Untrained Mercs are basically useless dead meat. They provide a small amount of APP when ascending, but it is hardly worth it. The only other use they can provide for some is a kind of bank. If you buy millions of untrained mercs, they can't be killed or used in anyway, but you can sell them back on to the Merc Market at a cheaper cost. So if you build up for Untrained Mercs to a certain point then you can sell them and use the naq on something, this is particularly useful if you have filled your bank up.

i prefer to use planet defences as banks as they do not lose 40% or so of their value

But they can be destroyed, where as Untrained Mercs can't. It all depends on who you are etc.

Yes, until it is full.

and plus when ur a nooby unascended, it has bank fees(unless u have goa'uld technology unless i am mistaken
