Iris??

Wouldnt it make loads more sense if the Tauri's best defence weapon was the Iris instead of the Ion Cannon which in the tv series the Tollan wouldnt share their technology with SG1.

10 personnel are give X302 Crafts
25 personnel are give a stargate iris
and 100 are weaponless

well not all weapons make sense, just like the Goa'uld 50k weapon-
10 personnel given full jaffa division
1 jaffa can be a wgole division?

i got a better one.
10 are given an iris.
0 of your untrained soldiers have weapons and 7000 are weaponless
both sides engage.
your generals report on the battle,
it is a tough battle but the goa'uld have won an extrodonary battle as they fired they gate weapons at the iris' thus melting the tau'ri soldiers to their iris.
as you flee the battlefield your soldiers try to figure out what happened was the iris idea totally stupid? was the goa'ulds army too strong?

If you gave a stargate iris to your troops, you could have them use it like a frisby, they throw it over the heads of their enemies, and just as it's coming down on them, they shout "CLOSE THE IRIS" lol
