Recovery resources after being cheated..

I put this in the newbie forum, hope it is the right place..

In any case I recently rejoined this game.. Found a new commander who seemed friendly enough. Earned my G&R points, went to ascend, and send my CO 10,750,000 million UU, about a trillion naq, etc.

Long story short, he accepted the brokers, and used the resources to rebuild his own account after being massed. He then tried to get me to believe he did not know it was just to hold for ascending, despite my message attached to both his pm box and the brokers..

Anywho, I have not pressed the issue much, and he agreed to send the resources when I got back on PPT.. Instead, one of his top alliance members declared war on me, and he dismissed me as an officer.

My question is.. What the heck is going on here? And what should I do about it? I do not appreciate being shafted by someone I trusted, especially not over such a small amount of resources..

Not much you can do, really. Get yourself a new CO. One you can trust.

But just a note for the next time you ascend. When brokering your stuff away for someone to hold while you ascend, always broker for the same amount in return (i.e. 10mUU for 10mUU, 1T Naq for 1T Naq). That way, if they try to accept the broker to scam you, they won't make anything out of it; because they have to give up the same amount in return. Therefore, the only thing you lose if they accept is 1% of the UU.

Also, feel free to post your ex-Commander's ID. There are some people around here who like going after scammers.

I agree with what GG just said in future to broker for same amount so they can't technically steal anything.

I also thought when reading your post that you may not be aware that PMs ingame are always deleted when you ascend, therefore if you had sent him an ingame PM then ascended before he got a chance to see the PM then he would never have seen it. However, having said that, I notice you said you added a note to the broker, so he has no excuse for what he did.

Feel free to pass on the ID.

Also if they belong to one of the bigger alliances/empires report them to the alliance leaders.. many will not tolerate that from their members :)

even if he doesnt send the naq/uu's back, he can be sure that those nice fellers up here will hurt him enough to make the gain minimal... (if not a loss instead...)

the safest brokers when ascending, are the ones for several times the amount brokered away... only fools would accept that

I appreciate everyone's support, however, I wanted to give my CO just a little bit longer to come clean on the issue. As it turns out, this runs deeper than I thought.

Apparently, I test raided someone with 1 turn roughly a week ago, they were a crappy target so I moved on, however, they happened to be in a sister alliance to that of my CO. I had a stern chat with my CO about the resources a couple days before, and it was clear that he was unlikely to return the UU. Curiously, my ex-CO falsely testified to the now very powerful raiding target that I was told not to attack that particular alliance. That is why he declared war on me.

Looks to me like either bad karma, or a rather clever way to get away with scamming me for 10.7 mil uu.

And for the time being, I will not disclose the ID of the scammer and risk someone massing him. His army is only 12.3 mil in size, 10.7 of which is mine, so going after him would be stabbing me instead.

Once again, I hope I am doing the right thing, and I will keep in mind the advice given here.. Especially in regard to matching the broker so the receiver would not gain anything from accepting it. I have never had trust issues with a CO, so I never learned that technique.

Let me say again that I appreciate the support, it is good to know that the community here takes scamming very seriously.

The point is that this person could be a known scammer to the rest of us but not to you.
Or this could be a known scammer returning to the game under a new name that you may not necessarily beaware of.

I can understand you wanting to give him more time to respond, but the truth of the matter is he took your resources.

In that case, the ID is 1952820 for the ex-CO, and 1968553 is the one who declared war for the test raid.. Also someone asked for my ID, which is 83946.
