MS Suicide run / Ramming

I got this idea from another game I play VGAPlanets where one ship type has a command called POP which makes it explode damaging all ships at it's location.

To move this to SGW I would suggest a 99 AT suicide run, or ramming maneuver, the MS using this would lose ALL weapons/Sheilds/Fleets and drop the ship it rammed by say 75% of the ramming ships total power.

eg a 1 Trill total power MS would do 750 Bill damage to the ship it rams


This is basically another suggestion to allow smaller MSs to stand a chance against monster MSs. This should be limited to one run per day, so it might take a number of players together to take down a monster MS. If your caught online, instead of having the options of watch your MS be squashed, Explore or PPT, you could simple ram the opponent and go down in a blaze of glory :D

Yeah towing it home time :lol: Like I said, it should be for several players to use, rather than 1 to go RAM, rebuild, RAM, rebuild, mass

ramming should be like sending your MS out for a planet, your MS must e grounded for 24 hours and if your total power is lets say 20% more than the enemies then the enemies MS is grounded for 12 hours .

I'm not a fan of the idea personally.
Not that i have a powerful MS that would be taken down cause of this.

But for those whom have spend huge(borderline insane) amounts of Naq on their MS, to then have it taken down by 10 noob ships is silly. Similar to the idea of being able to combine power of multiple MSs...

My question would be, do you really want the rank 1-10 MSs, constantly 0ing your MS? Only need 2 to make yours effectively useless forever...

Nice rp, but too easily exploitable. Example:

Person A has a nice ms, lets say 1tril strike / 1tril shields for argument sake.

Person B build weapon slots only, perhaps 500bil or so power.


since the scenario you're using, is based on the power of strike, the smaller person could effectively take out half person a's shields, pretty cheaply. allowing anyone with a moderate ms at that point, to 1at off the ms without issue.


i guess it comes out of the same reasoning, that priors should be given huge bonuses to let them fight origins and higher, with more equality. since they didn't spend half a year ascending, paying for them in hundreds of tril naq/mil uu .. . the game should give them advantage for free :?

if you want to take down bigger ms moer easily, why not build your own :roll:

Or, get your buddies, and gang up on them, and mass them as many times a day as you like

You have a point, but, both parties will loose the same amount in naqudah, well the rammers a little more. And it will be a good way to stop the guys with ridiclious MS's being unstoppable without incurring ridiclious losses.
Also the ability to disable a Monster MS will be cool, makes massing them easier, and makes them effectively a little more useless.

Well its a good idea in theory anyway.

But Sarevok is right the costs don't quite seem enough. If 5 crappy 200 bil MS's from some nub Alliance can take down someone like Jedi-Tanks MS, actually disable it for 24 hrs too just for 25% more cost in lost naqudah.

Perhaps the "Ram" could have an additional cost like a loss of 5% of Volley/Shield capacity. With no additional damage to the rammed ship.

"Loading your ship up with explosives and turning off the shields and them ramming it into an enemy vessel can be very damaging to your Hull Integraty, where as the enemy ship, fully shielded, absorbed most of the blast."

This way before you ram someone you best make sure its worth it.
It will also stop players with large MS's abusing the Ram feature as you said saverock as with much more expensive capacity costs it will cost far too much. But a much lower MS will incure less costs.

If you remove the 12 hour grounding for the defending MS then it'd be worth considering.

Also, i would suggest a minimum value, like 30%, to stop just that, small alliances, ganging up on a single MS to take it down. At least if they have 30%, then they would have been able to damage it in the first place

(Note: 30% is not the value that should be used, it's an example, as i have no idea what the minimum should be lol)

obvious exploit there would be alliances creating "ramming" crews whos ships are designed and maintained solely for raming pourposes. They never try to increase them in an fashion other then to obtain the % needed for successful raming. If 5 men lost the same resources as 1 massive MS, then they win. there are 5 of them to share the load, and only 1 Massive MS to take all the losses.


I'm not against the idea myself, just pointing out easy exploits

possible spin/twist. make it a tech, and after your MS accepts XX amount of attacks from an enemy MS, losses XX amount of power do to attacks from an enemy MS, or what ever trigger you want to use, then the "ramming" occurs.

Can be set up for 1 time use, or multiple use in an battle. just alot you can do with it.

*Edit*

possibly make it so a "ramming" deals the damage of both attack and defensive weapons being counted as attack weapons. Weapons firing and shield slamming into one another. course its pointless for a mased MS as it will have neither.

Isn't this the exact same tactic employed by most/all alliance in game? You have a few defense massers, a few ACers, and finally people to either sab attack weapons, or take well defended planets.

Yes, thats what I just said.

Is that what you are suggesting or wanting? for groups to be able to completely anniahlate one MS for a fraction of the losses?

I don't really care myself, the last 3 or 4 updates have pretty much ruined MS for the average player anyway.

If any update about MS should come out, it should be a way to put them out of business for an extended period of time, not 1 turn.

I doubt this would help, at least as far as i can see.
Would just allow the large MS, unless they got jumped by an entire alliance, to effectively put out-of-commission any average MS, since they could effectively sit on them, disabling them for a period of time (instead of the owner just waiting for the right time to re-buy weapons)
