I am just curious to know what is minimal/legal age to be able to drink and buy alcohol in other EUROPEAN countries. I could use google to find out, but I will not, because I want to hear from people not from webpages. People who really know for one/several countries, because they live/went there regularly should be able to answer it correctly. Yep. Countries such as Spain, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria...EU in other words!

Germany 18 , 16 (beer) -confirmed-
Bulgaria 14
South Africa (non European but oh well) 18

in Germany it's 16 for beer and 18 for the hard stuff, but its not enforced very strictly and if you're with your parents you can drink whatever you want, so long as they allow you to.

In south africa it is 18 but most people start drinking at 14

Good so far, I want to know about more european countries. Come on people.

i went there at 14 and was like "lololololol!!"

Italy is 14

UK is 18 but we're all breastfed carling from birth

ireland is 18, but i've never met a person thats followed said law

norway is 18 for regular stuff like beer, and 20 for the stronger... but pretty much all rules have exceptions...

Here you drink when you have some $$ but legal wise,18...

you can drink in the UK from age 14, but only in a restaurant and only if you are having it with a meal

that said, the person serving the alcohol has the right to refuse to serve you without providing any reason, just as they can refuse to serve you in any shop
