ok, after mildly searching....

well, couldnt find anything about this, so i think it'd be kool for people who ascend to be able to choose what ascended race they wanna be(system lord,ancient, nano-ti master, tolan) whenever they want and not having to re ascend or loose everything that will go towards piower points before they ascend...i wanna be system lord, but there is no option in teh change race section be become system lord, nano-ti master, ancient, or tolan....thoughts?

Once you ascend you can change race - but only to one of the original 4 - and in doing so you lose your 5% bonuses in each stat and take on the 25% of the race you choose. If you had wanted to be a System Lord then you should have ascended as a Goa'uld!
I do not like the change race thing anyway - I'm Tollan and before that I was always Tauri - at the very most you should be able to change race 4 times throughout the entire life of your account - so that you can try every race and then switch back to the one you like best.
Your comment about not losing everything when you ascend - well - essentially you have ascended - you can't take it with you!! Although you leave a shell account, this is, in essence, a different being.
But, if you take everything with you when you ascend, you have more Ascension Power Points, hence a more powerful Ascension account. Or, if you have SS, you can transfer your excess resources to somebody before you ascend.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'not having to re-ascend'... bottom line is - you don't have to re-ascend.

wolf, would you have a lot of stats and just switch to goa'uld when you ascend just so you can be system lord, loosing all those power points?

No I wouldn't - but if I had my way you wouldn't be able to change race at all.
