You're right, Harchester, it is unfair. Here, let me fix that for you. ;)

Is this right? Getting a full warning after already being given a verbal warning? That's like two punishments for the same crime

Also according to the user note posted, that was a warning for this post:

Was that really something you can get warned for?

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

Well since the thread is unlocked i will now post my last thought on this, and afterwards mods can lock it to avoid any more foul play.

What i feel is that, somehow the forums are often full of hatred and bad words and masking, and that there are ppl who take care of it, but at some points they like don't have time to deal with it for 3 days and than when they come back, do they check topics that happened 3 days ago? Usually not, just the current ones and if you happen to be in that topic using something that is forbidden you may get a warning as such. Well we also know that personal feelings cannot be 100% denied and that the current state could affect the mod/admin ( bad day, headache, getting dumped etc.. ).

All i'm asking here is if possible, try being more reasonable when it comes to banning. I've seen ppl far more annoying than mezzanine and it took months to get them banned, even cheaters and liars avoided that.
Sometimes are posts, even tho they're written without foul language and breaking the rules, far more offensive than those written with bad language.

So don't do modding every 3 days, or if you do that as such, try to scout back some topics and see if the person you're about to warn did anything in the past 3 days to deserve such a thing.... as they say once a *insert word* always a *insert word*.

I meant no hard feelings against MODs/Admins in general, i just feel some may get out of the line now and than, even if the reasons are valid you can let it go now and than if not, than make it even for everyone.

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

that is why none of the sections that often require modding, have just a single mod... it is also the reason there is the "report post" function & GMs...

if the mod of one section is away for a weekend or such, and you see things arent being modded, report those posts, and another mod, GM or Admin will deal with it... we mods arent omnipresent (however practical it would have been...) we cant see every little post...

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

That is resonable, but two mods modding same thread and each with different standards, can lead to unjust bans. One could just get verbal warned meanwhile other gets a board warning ;)

And if its a strike 3 its a ban.

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

That is the reason for the forum rules to be there. For every offense there is a "punishment" noted.

For masking it says: The offending user IS given one warning point.

Note: It is not a "CAN" but an "IS", meaning the punishment is not optional. Thus a verbal warning for masking is NOT covered by the rules.

This has been the interpretation of rule 5b since it has come into effect.

Now, if a mod does nto give an official warning but only a verbal one, then they are not acting within the rules.

He said it wasn't fair that Mez got a warning and he didn't, so I made it fair. ;O

Never mind about that post of mine, I had the misunderstanding cleared up by zeratul.

On the same topic can warnings be issued retrospectively? Like I mean quite a while after the offense?

harchester warning overturned, the link in usernotes was an ombudsman posts, only ombudsman can ask for warnings there not moderators. and only earandil can warn unless the ombudsman asks an admin

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

official ombudsman ruling:

it was bypassing the wordfilter so it is masking. the ombudsman office will not overturn a warning that was given within the forum regulations since the ombudsman office is not here to undermine the moderators. after talking with the mods and admins we also came to find that there is not enough suport to turn it into a verbal warning.

masking has become a serious problem on the forum adn therefor the mods need to take serious actions. i am sorry, even if the intentions were good the rules were broken

Re: Lord Mezzanine banned by mod missusing power.

I have a question pertaining to masking. A while back, I posted a screen shot and got a warning because on the screen shot there was a letter missing!

I don't know about you, but that to me is ridiculous. Some mods just go too far with the whole masking thing. I mean, why would I get a warning for posting a screen shot from an in game message?
