I can see how the treatment that the aliens received in the movie would correspond to the treatment the black population received during apartheid.
My point is, that the city, Johannesburg? looked very ugly. :| Now, I have been told by a good source that it is not ugly, just crowded.. but the movie scares me. Apparently that apartheid is still going on?

1st of all i am not rascist i just have my own mind lol ok so don't take what i say to heart lol.

apartheid was forced to die because of the international human rights laws.

no their is nothing like that going on anymore.

the TOwnships like district 9 are over populated with poor black people (squatters) which makes it look ugly and very dangerous for other races.

the movies district 9 was about the coulourd people living there before and the government kicking them out to put the black people there or something thats what i was told.

not a Best seller movies lol rubish to watch and very stupuid but tells u allot about how people were treated (blacks/coulourds) in those days.

hit me up on msn if u wish to know more lol.

Apartheid is over, but like any major event in history those worse affected don't forgive as easily, and people brought up in those days in close minded communities still feel the way they were told to by "Die groot krokodil"

Image

But it's all in the past now, the reason the informal settlements still exist is because most of the money is in the big cities, but a lot of people can't afford housing in these cities (Johannesburg being the biggest)

But years of hatred are never easily just swept aside, but there is no oppression in South Africa

Wow.
We have streets here, named after him. Or his dad.. but at least there are a few 'Bothastraat' (ironically, it is in the Transvaalwijk in Breda, but also in Rotterdam, Leeuwarden, Den Helder, Ermelo, Eindhoven, Haarlem, Borgerhout, Zaandam.. and a load of other cities/towns), 'Bothalaan' (in Baarn and Zeist, at least), 'Bothaweg' (in Oosterhout).

Wow. And that Groot Krokodil is a bad egg, I take it?

My memory of history isn't that great, he was bad at the start of his term or so and then FW De Klerk came after him and began the process of ending apartheid :-k

Someone would have to check me on that :-D
