It is a cartoonesque reprieve from the harshness of reality, which many youth and various adults are pretty much sick of.

im not an anime fan,
Death note and DBZ and YU GI OH (not sure if that last one is an anime)

so then, if i read this correctly, you're saying that there is NO reason why trekkies are obsessed with star trek?
