I want to start a topic about 2 subjects that no doubt have plenty of threads of themselves, and get players opinions on them as they seem to be closely tied.
Random massing- give your opinion on what you think this is and why you think it is what you say it is.
Massing because "I'm bored"-

Massing because someone has a lot spies/defense supers that can be easily killed
For example: massing a 12 tril defense for no reason other then you want to try to mass a high defense is NO random massing
massing someone who has only 1 mil defense weapons and 20 mil defense supers trained is random massing

random - Having no definite aim or purpose
if u aim the 20T def then u got a reason if u aim the 20m units still u got a reason. however I remember that "random massers" used to pick randomly the targets , which had big defs, it was called randomly coz these targets werent direct threats to them or they had any ingame issue.

But what about role play? If a particular player or group of players role is conqour or dominate and chose to play as such..wouldnt it be different?

Have to agree with Lith
random massing is when you decide to hit someone that has expressed no interest or desire to attack you. The server war has made the term "random massing" a lot more widely used. This is inpart because it's mainly done by people with nothing to lose and have no fear or care of retaliation.
Funny how people not in the server war are unlikely to "randomly mass" those in it......when visa versa quite clearly isn't true. More and more people seemingly want out of the server war, but don't seem to be allowed to surrender their account from it, and thus open themselves up for future "random massings"....it's of little surprise this particular fact makes people leave the game

personally i don't think there is a "random massing" it is a game and if i mass you it is for a reason whether the reason be simply... i'm bored... there for it's not random it is planned and carried out...

Yes technically everything is done for a reason.
Randomly picking someone to mass because you are bored is a reason, but it is also random.
So what i'm saying there, is that the there is a reason "for" the massing, i.e. bordeom, but the selection of the "victim" is random in some cases.
So there's always a "reason" for the "action" but the "selection" is often "random".

no propoganda intended in my post.....i can't care enough for either side to turn into a fanboy for you all.
I was simply pointing out as a result of the war "random massing" seems to a regular word banded around now.
As clarkey pointed out, massing isn't in itself random, but massing the people you do can be...hence random massing. Picking people just based on their def size is random, because you cannot predetermine the def someone will build.

I was invited to play by a friend
I was advised on what to build as I had no idea
I actually attacked the first person that hit me
Pretty sure there is no need for calling people retarded just because they have some sort of order in their life
