This is a big idea but not really mine

I recently saw another browser game called Modded, it has just as many players if not more than SGW but they have realtime screen updates, no need to refresh pages, they also have a realtime chat box with world chat, friend chat and alliance chat buttons, this in part of the main frame around whatever game screen your in so you can play and talk without having to switch screens to MSN or other chatter places. Other interesting features include moving graphics, freemarket trading where you see bids and offers on trading resources with all players instead of the private trade brokers we have, and the market takes a commission, this means NO $$$ trades from what I saw, just genuine game resource to game resource trades. There are still options to buy resources from the game provider to support the site.
If Modded and other Browser games can have these kind of things why cant we, frankly SGW format looks horrible simple and out of date in comparision.
I think SGW has a lot to learn from new browser games like Modded, and we need these kind of major updates if SGW is going to get new blood in the game, else SGW will die a slow death as the oldies leave one by one.
Said it before and will say it again, I and many others are only still here because of the friends we've made, if I had never started playing SGW I certainly wouldnt chose to start today with such superior gaming competition.
Section 7: Advertising
Advertising of non-‘Kingdom Games’ games is prohibited. This only relates to games that could be seen as being in competition with the SGW franchise. (i.e. Browser based MMORPG’s.)

SGW is years out of date.
Jason is taking ages in just implementing alliance bank scheme let alone completely changing the game format

Maybe he has just given up, or his coding skills are out of date, or he has built another game and is letting this one wind down
But if he wants SGW to compete and draw in new players it needs a serious overhaul.
@ Sam, the main game resources have little value so $$$ trades dont seem to be present now, the stuff the game provider sells to support the site cant be traded or given, it looks very good but I dont really get enough time to play SGW and VGA planets anymore, and certainly dont have time to start another game else I would play it.

yes i do agree mez it need "livening up" especially making it more interactive and tangible in a sense by having better communication with people, maybe see who is online some graphics as you say.
jason should spend a bit of money invest a bit in a better programmer and make it happen. he can get more money by sponsors and advertising if player spending is not enough. i will happily draw him up a new business plan

It only works on the other game because it's divided into upteen million servers all of which are independent to each other.

I too have played a game, whereby you see your resources clocking over every second (if you get at least 1 of that resource per second). But that's not the way SGWs is built. And i don't think that should change.
It is a turn based game, and as many others like to inform me oh to often, there is only 1 server, which services the world. Thus it's a 24-hour game as such. Whereas the game i played, had like 10 USA servers alone. And a single server only servicing like 1-5k people, is easy to have lots of fancy things, as there's only a few accounts to update. Whereas SGWs has like 60k (including inactive, which are updated), and generating millisecond-by-millisecond tiny updates, would probably kill the server.
Though, I'm all for a system overhaul. Leave most of the game mechanics, just spice up things. Like the shout box. Or IRC chat rooms which are only access able to members of an alliance. Have a main-screen "Most recent attacks against you" small section, with very brief details of like the last 5 attacks against you. The ability to have in-game announcements for alliances, so they can see what's happening, instead of alliance wide PMs

Um...
For people wanting a shoutbox, try clicking the "chat" button at the top left corner of the page...

In which you get re-directed to a page which anyone can post in. AND you need to login there also. Especially to access the alliance chat.

if you're logged in ingame then click chat you can get sent to your alliance room.
and i thought that the idea was that everyone could post there?
you can also set up some private rooms easily enough. i see no need for a chatbox ingame.

And the awesome java-server system will crash nicely for you in about 5 mins, or if you navigate away (at least this was the most common occurrence for me)
