The biggest mistake you've made in SGW

Many of the threads which plague the general section are of a disgustingly self congratulatory nature. They give people a chance to feel good about whatever meager accomplishments they have and then wax lyrical about them to other equally egoentric people. None of that interests me, sadly. I don't care how big your mothership is, or which inane war brought you closest to climax.

I want to know where you **Filtered** up. I want to know what you think is the biggest mistake you've ever made in relation to this game. Not joining a crucial alliance at a crucial time, perhaps, or simply sleeping in with a hangover and missing the end of that all-important PPT. Because that's interesting.

I've made more mistakes here than I've had hot dinners, so it's going to take me a few hours, or days, to decide which fubar was the most colossal and tragic. I'm torn between pouring hours and hours of my life into a forum and a team which both undervalues and fails to appreciate, or leaving and alienating the one alliance which I ever truly fit into for a reason which was sublimely ridiculous. Exciting times.

finally a thread where i can blow my own trumpet :D

Well for me it would have to be either the one time i was talking to hellboy, i was talking to him for a few weeks maybe a few months, and i started considering him a kind of friend ,still sgw though of course so nothing personal of course. At one point told me he needed i think it was 40mill UU or something like that, it was about half my army back then but since he promised 60millUU back i agreed eventually. About a week later he gave me back 60millUU, so all was good i made a 20millUU profit and i was a happy bunny.

A few weeks later he asked again saying he needed 50mill UU for something, and promised 75millUU back. Of course at this point since i trusted him a little i agreed. Now most of you can establish that this time round it was a scam and i had lost 50millUU, of which i never saw any of it again.

This is just one of my many fails in sgw, But since i treat it only as a game, ive taken them pretty lightly, for the most part.
I might post another one later

I think Pimping D has it about right. Other than that, i'm happy with the decisions i've made, but there is one that stands out after this long of playing. It was when I acquired an ascended account and gave away my original account in a trade. I miss that account.

Many years ago, discovering what it meant with ??? where next to NAQ and ARMYSIZE.. and spying an account with 1mil spies - my account was under mil back then - I figured more spies, more intel... LOL

Did I mention it was ID#1 I was trying to spy?.. ROFL

second biggest mistake - creating an account cuz, "hey you only need to login twice a day" <== you know who you are that introduced me to this addiction.

Nice thread Mordack.

Being + and being - at same time would be server war. On one hand i have grown so much, but on the other hand, it is not the same as it was before...need more time to spend here to make things going.

Only missed 2-3 ppt's so far, but not really much that i have lost, cause banking it few hrs before.

My biggest mistake were my believes that peace talks stand for mutual respect and a time of a little ceasefire. Went out and left my MS there, which was fully built, fleets included...few T's naq lost, but there are other things than naq that i am aiming.

This would be it.

I think my worst mistake was buying a few UU for a lot of $. :-k
Gamewise.
Forumwise, I cannot begin to list them.

well i dont regret creating a mian account it got me to explore this whole new "world" and meet some good people.

worst mistake i made was trusting a former allaicne mate back like 2 years ago who nearly got me banned from the game for his stupidity but in the end it got sorted. other one is i recently forgot to merlin my duals and lost some tasty ones and big platofrms but you recover from everything really.

have never really missed a ppt thats cost me more than a few 100 bill naq.

the server war i knew it was in for the long run the only regret i have about it is i have forgotten how it is to be playing on the outside of it. :?

Or

The old forgot to untrain ACers, a common mistake that once cost me about 5 Mill ACers

Setting someone up. Not because he didn't deserve it, he did and still does deserve even more than that, but because it was unhonourable action from my side and some people whom I respected and respected me before, lost that respect.

Other than this nothing really..From every mistake or bad thing I did something good arose. So even though some things weren't exactly fair to some people, I consider them a success since we became friends afterwards and had good laughs over this..

Interesting responses. Thanks, all. I think that some of the people claiming to have zero regrets are either a little dishonest or a lot stupid. I can't honestly believe that anybody whose looked at their time here critically can honestly think that they've done everything right. I do, however, appreciate that there are two types of people who have no response for this. Those who strive never to take the game seriously, and those who do the exact opposite; people for whom everything is personal and overloaded with emotions.

Here are a few more of mine:

I - I failed to realize the potential of a high Unit Production when I first started playing. I ploughed too much naq into stats and spy levels without first laying the building blocks for an economic self-maintaining account. Had I not made those mistakes, then my account would have got a lot better a lot quicker.

II - I left Omega under absurd circumstances. I didn't lie to anybody, as has been suggested, or commit a betrayal. I'm not blameless, though. I didn't think clearly, for whatever reason, and it led to me alienating the one alliance in the game where I felt at home. The negative circumstances surrounding that event were the death knell for my interest in actively playing. I wish I'd done it all so much different.

III - A week ago, or thereabouts, I resigned my admin position in protest at Clarkey's inclusion in the purple group. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or not. I feel very rudderless now that I'm not part of the team, and I miss it despite how stressful and annoying it could be at times. I think I was too hasty and too angry. No turning back now, though. Remember Mrs Lot.
