Transport Ships {if this aint long, im blind!!!}

i just had an idea. well, how are our troops getting to their place of battle??? im assuming a stargate, but wht would happen if the gate was recaptured?? some people with large armies take long enough to get there fight and get back, well on the defending plantet they would simply be able to destroy the device that keeps the gate open, leaving the attacking forces stranded. and obviously a mothership wont fit through a single gate! and if it does.... wow! that must be one huge gate!!! it would only make sence that there be transport ships!
Now obviously when your just starting out your hardly going to be able to buy a transport ship for 1 mil or so, but in saying that, a fair price would be about 15 - 30 mil for one. so if this was put in place you should start with one or 2 at least.
So, you say, just think thats how they get there! ahh, but if that were so they'd need sheilds ect or they'd be shot down befor they got there. so we could give them guns, lets say a max of 10 guns per ship (as they are only transporting ships, not frigates or anything!) and 10 sheilds, how ever lets make them upgradeable! like for the tauri transport ship- rapid fire bullet turrets. where they have a strenth of 1250 [being the weakest] then a small electricity cannon, with 18750 strenth, medium energy turrets, 25000 strenth, large ion turrets, 375000 strenth. then for sheilds, titanium alloy plates, 100 strenth, low voltage electricity sheilds, 150 strenth, nuclear energy sheilds, 200 strenth, energy crystal generated sheilds, 300 strenth. those weapon strenths take into account the 25% attack bonus the tauri get. i have only named the tauri as i dont play the other races and as such dont know as much about them (also i aint no ancient, gua'uld, or replicator in real life!!! lol), if you would like to place suggestions here for them it would be appretiated
These wepons however wouldnt work like the m/s's wepons and sheilds do, the would work like the normal weps, eg, in the armory it would look like such
Transport ship 1 - sheilds 195/200 [then the box with how much to repair]
- weapons 300/375 [then the box]
Transport ship 2 - sheilds 250/300 [the box]
- weapons 295/375 [again....BOX!!! lol]
Attack weapons:
etc etc etc
so you can se how it would be reapired. i think that it would be good to be able to increase the m/s's weaps and sheilds to so like, energy volley, then nuclear volly etc.
however in saying this people in X302's and death gliders and the such obviously wouldnt need a transport, so they shouldnt count towards the max on the transports, yes i think there should be a limit, like 150 people to each tranport of something of the like. then when you get a m/s [if you do] it should be able to hold like 500 - 1000 people. it would also be good if you could get upgrades to the amount that you can store in a transport, like the UP only a tad more units per upgrade, say 10 with a max amount of upgrades per ship at 15, this would double the amount of people a transport could carry and add an extra 150 to a m/s.
I also think that it would be kool if you could get fleets like in schuesseled's post, however i dont think that the deffencive ships should go to battle, and in return the offencive ships shouldnt go to the aid of your defence, what if while your defence was out attacking with your offence you got attacked???? this would also be another good way to use transports, as a cheapish weapon, eg 10*375000 [for tauri] is 3750000, thats with 10 weapons on board ok, and off course you have to pay for each weapon [im leaving it up to forum to put prices in or change the one price i did put and to change the power where he see's fit] however you dont need to pay for troops, so a few hundred of those, with 10k odd X302's, and a couple of schuesseled's frigates and your attack is well on its way. however in saying that i could just use them and never anything else! so i think that we should put in a %age limit. you need to have 151 TRAINED units to buy your second, etc, so you need to use them!!! if they have no troops they dont leave!!!, however again, i could just use 151 Nid's with X302's, or 151 Super souldiers with death gliders and i could have 2 transports thats 2*3750000=7500000 power + the X302's! so i think it should be, your previous ship has to be full [eg, 150 + any upgrades to cargo hold {or where ever it is my troops are} units, AFTER i subtract the amount of X302's i have] befor i can send a second transport in. i welcome any sugestions, critisism etc etc etc your mind can come up with! thanks for reading it all {if you did}
