Use race general to discuss your Na'vi issues. It's just the latest current craze because the movie was released less than a month ago.

I think the only fair way to have a race forum created... is..

1. To have at least 100+ active race members on the SGW forums.

2. To have been part of that race ingame and forum role play wise for four years minimum (the same length of time everyone had to choose between the four original races before they could choose) or if you want to be realistic, I suggest a year a 100 active members.

you are right but we have lots of Na'vi Players (i dont know how many cuz we ant in the rankings yet) and do you really wont the general race section to spamed full of Na'vi threads to the point where they give us a sectiona anyway.

I agree with your last two points butit wont be long unill we have that.

The Daimons are not really a race in Stargate ether: Except for the time that merlin descended himself and maybe 1 or 2 ascended beings that came back down but for the rest there (afaik) never has been any mention of daimons

2. The races of Stargate withstood the test of time. The races were here from the start and have been maintained. Despite the fact the original races lost some popularity they stayed strong long after the opening of the game and became a massive corner stone of the community.

As u say it yourself the races where here from the start. They even had the forum area's from the start and overtime with dedication of a lot of players it became active. However lately its as active as my dead nanny. The daimon secction is barely used. Asgard might still have a bit of activity and so may goauld but tauri for sure is dead in activity

But yet they made the attampt, maybe even urself included. succeeded have you not but attempted u have. Yet now you are trying to stop a attempt from other players for a race section they wish for.

Maybe its a craze maybe not, however fact is that stargate started in the same matter heck even this game started in the same matter. People play it (read use race forums) cause its popular.

6. The SGW forums are over crowded by useless sections and sections that are not utilised properly. The lottery section for example.. or the debate section. I see numerous debates occurring throughout the forum at many points in time that are left away from the place dedicated to their going's on (possibly because it's shadowed at the very bottom of the forums). Do we really need more unimportant sections?

The admins could easely remove said sections

The game has gradually been forced away from the Stargate theme thanks to MGM/Sony. SG-1 and Atlantis are pretty much over now and are probably watched less by people, yes there's Universe but so far that consists of only humans. This game and forums is evolving, restricting it's evolution could be fatal.
I agree with Semper, just because Stargate Atlantis/SG1 are finished doesn't mean we should accelerate and help the "unstargatisation" of this forum. It's already on a bad path, let's not open the door to other races that have NOTHING to do at all with stargate! (Star wars races don't either, but Stargate/Star Wars are commonly confronted, and the Star Wars content here has been around for several *years*. It's not just a bandwagon thing.

If we keep this based on the series then....
Tauri - survived
Tollan - extinct
Jaffa - survived
System Lords - crumbled, who was left? Ba'al?
Asgard - extinct
Ancient - extinct?
Replicators - extinct
NanoTiMaster - LOL what?

The game has changed so much and has become in many parts customisable. The option is in game to change your race name to whatever you want, therefore it should be tolerated on the forums too.
Then other races should be accepted (like Semper says in his third point.

But still would good to back that up. Anyway times change, i'm guessing that was a while ago? They can retry if they want?
Jedi and Sith were pointed out because they have been around here for *years*, people started before custom races to roleplay as jedis or siths. They perhaps aren't as active as they used to, but they are old enough to be worth considerable.

You opinion is that it's just a craze and nothing more, however you have no proof that it is cause you don't know the minds of those requesting it.
So what you saying they have to wait 5 years for a Na'vi forum section if they last that long? But hang on even if this game/forum is around in 5 years and the Na'vi craze as you put it is still around and more films have been released that you be happy for a Na'vi section to be added? Even though it would still be a Stargate based game as you put it?
Don't have more to add to what Semper said. However, If we follow this argument Clarkey, then Spartan race should have been created when 300 came out, Terminator for T4, Joker (?) when TDK came out, I could carry on...those would have had as much activity. Now, are those races as much as active as they could have/used to? No. It was same effects causing the rise and eventually "fall" of those. Unlike Star Wars races that aren't simply a bandwagonned fanboy/fangirlism about a successful movie.

And then give the potential for it to grow.
They are less numbered than active daimons were in their first weeks. And see where Daimons are. Sure races are customisable, they weren't, daimons had bad bonuses globally...but still. They had more active members than this race does, see where they are now. If we are to make a section and then see it die 6 monthes later. We will have more race forums than chaos does in no time!

Unimportant? You mean non Stargate related. Debate section, do people use it to debate Stargate stuff? Doubtful, but it IS there. Spam and Misc, is it used for Stargate stuff, clearly not consistently, yet it IS there. If this forum was stripped down to be specifically 100% Stargate then it WOULD die. Evolving the forums WOULD make it stronger.
And yet it's NOT related to the game. It's different case. Debate isn't related. Lotteries is related. However this proposal is related to the game. I agree it shouldn't be 100% stargate related, but only things being "extra" should be non stargate related, not game related things. Afterall, misc is misc, race sections are race sections.

Ah but that's probably because of the person who started that petition......Who was that?
