Anti Double Post

I discovered there is a "Double Post" MOD for the vBulletin forums where if someone makes a post, then replies to that post before anyone else (i.e. double post) that rather than creating a 2nd post it merges the 2nd post with the 1st post, therefore eradicating the "double post" problem.

I searched for a similar MOD for phpBB and found it here:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=1054155

It's a suggestion, but Jason could consider installing this?

Anyway, thought i'd mention it.

Why don't you mention it to him yourself?

Because i felt it worth seeing if there is support for it first.

it is only needed if one needs to bump a thread, as long as it did that when merged than it would be fine

There is a bump option on threads already, and especially in the market section i know some people delete their last post and reply again therefore bumping it without double posting.

people have been warned for double posting before, it shouldn't be allowed in some circumstances and not others.

This would be a way of reducing it entirely.

Couldnt this have just been emailed to your friend Jason?

Good idea I supose.

Please cut out the childish sarcasm.
Why didn't SuperSaiyan, Sarajevo or Tekki make such a comment.... Take your own advise.

I clearly said in this thread that I have posted it here to see what support the idea gets from others. But you obviously purposely ignored that just so you could get your pathetic remark in. =D>

i like the idea alot. I do hope it bumps the thread though because isnt there a time restriction on the bump function? Perhaps someone who controls there won side forum (*hint* SS *hint*) could try it out and let us know a bit more about it.

I'd try it on my own forums, but they're vBulletin not phpBB. :(
But i'll see if i can find out.

So does the merging bump the thread or at least highlight the fact there is a new post/reply? i think that's an important bit too.

Here, only Jason has the needed level of access, but he doesnt really want to to use any mods, because he takes the easier way to upgrade the forum engine, when theres a new version. And that would require reinstalling all mods after all updates...
