time travel is possible...would you travel in time, why would you want to, and what would you do???

nothing silly like lottery numbers/gambling, profiteering of any kind or massing someone on SGW before they massed you lol
i dont mind a bit of fun and a good laugh so long as its original, but a sensible down to earth discussion would also be appreciated

I would not use it. Sorry i just can't find ANY use for it... its like having a 10 milion dollar deluxe car and you live in a farm in the middle of nowhere with no roads... ya can stare at it and its shiny but useless...

I would go back in time and tell muh self to do stuff a little different also take advantages of a few things

i have alwasy wanted to go and visit the past probably more than the future. to see all these historic places we learn about, read about, see all the major events from like the time of the dinosaurs to the egyptians and all of that. the future i would visit just to see how civilization adapts and how the world changes, i wouldnt use it for any personal gains, when you have time in your hands what more do you need really

Back to 1 minute before the birth of the universe with a good camera.
Forward to 10 minutes before the actual moment of death of the sun, with an equally good camera. Blast shields included.
Back to when the very first creature set the very first steps on land. Again with the camera. Hazard suit.
Forward to the last human to die on Earth. And then interview his relatives. Camera comes. Breath mask too, wouldn't want to rush their demise.
Back to the strike of that Yucatan comet. Camera included, and a space suit.
Forward to the actual moment of outbreak of Global War IV. Camera included.
Back to Hitler's choice to become party leader of the NSDAP. Camera included, the diagrams for a nuclear weapon, and an autograph booklet.
Forward to the exact moment the Earth's crust can no longer withstand the sun's expanding mass, and breaks apart under the pressure and heat. Camera included. Space station, radiation shields and hazard suit.


Why? Because these are critical moments in past and future, and I would love to actually be somewhere where something happens for once. I always arrive too late. Bank robbery? I arrive after the police get there. Train wreck? I took a train earlier. Plane crash? I'm underground.

So yes, for the sheer spectacularity of the moments, or their historical significance, I would love to be there. Not necessarily do anything but watch.. but it'd be awesome to be able to say, "I was there that day."

@ Ashu: why is it useless? surely its only useless if you dont use it...just like your car is useless if you wanted you could go out and build the roads so you can enjoy that super expensive car...

me personally i would use it to go back in time and answer the oh so to many questions that need/could be answered...such as...who really built the pyramids, did Atlantis really exist, just how many civilisations have been "lost" to history, did aliens really visit our ancestors as they documented or were the stories recorded on clay and stone tablets really the equivalent to today's star trek fantasy story telling. did giants really walk the earth, what did dinosaurs really look like, could the T-Rex really run 30+ MPH, was it the predator as told by archaeology and Hollywood, or was it a scavenger as is now theorised...


to many questions to list and i'm sure there are just as many questions (if not more) you could ask about our future, not least of which is where are we heading as a species.

The Kennedy's are soo last century.. might be intriguing to some, but I'd rather walk through a certain 24h timeframe with Tim McVeigh if I'd have to pick American history.

Anyone interested in Time Travel needs to read "All You Zombies" by R.A.Heinline. Its a short SF story, quite messed up and quite interesting!

Still.. seeing it first hand beats films every day of the year. It's so easy to commit fraud with images.. it should be forbidden.

hmm if i wanted to go back in time or to the future.
hmm depends how. like back to the future where you can effect it or merely just an observer.
well BTTF i would probably go to key moments in histroy such as birth of jesus. probably would beat the crap out of one of the wise men as he was going to the bathroom or something and switch places with him. i don't know maybe melchior.

as an observer
i would go and check out each war in turn. mostly american ones. the good ones not the mexican american war ect. like the revolution, the civil war, the world wars. just to see certain places. i would definately want to witness the siege of berlin by the russians. good times.

hmmm going to the future. the only thing i would want to go see is my own future and my geneology. go see what my tree will do.
second thought how about go to just see my kids after my wife is already dead. so i don't know who my wife is and i don't go on the forever search of the woman i am destined to marry.
