Assuming your doing a standard dissertation of between 10K - 15K words then its relatively easy.

State the problem, State your proposal to investigate the problem, State the 'state' of the problem at the moment, Do the investigation, State the results & Then finally State How you would approach the problem based on the findings of your investigation.

translations;

Tell em, Tell em & Tell em again :P

Something you might have to worry about in .. oh, 20 years? :P
When you're a thirtysomething, like Ashu. :-"

I love dissertations on dimensional calculus. They lend depth to my superficiality.

I really like dissertations on linguistic critique and British history. They make me want to become a teacher :razz: . And Jo, as far as i can see you're sharing my 30 something with a few years on :-D . 8-[

I'm with kit-fox on this one.....dissertations are pretty easy. Wrote both my dissertations in about three days each (although they contained months' of research). I'm the kind of person that does the research intensively, then writes it all up in one go.....I hate writing it up in chunks as you go along.....hence why I'm dreading 100k word PhD. :-k

Yeah I'm doing Sound Studio Technology, my dissertation is on the 'Evolution of DJing and how Technology has changed the way people DJ.'

It sounds ridiculous to be honest lol

I've interviewed a few DJs, ranging from Locally know to world wide know but I just can't seem to put it all together and get my head down and work.

I DJ nearly every weekend now, and pretty much all I think about is doing it proffesionally, so you would imagine I had plenty of interest in the subject. Although I just can't seem to start it.

Thanks for your comments by the way, they have already helped my mind set.

If anyone is a DJ and fancys having a chat drop us a message, Id jump at the chance to talk to you.

Yeah.. I love my dissertation. :?

I am writing mine on human consciousness.. more specifically the debate between it's existence and non existence...my experiment was fairly difficult to get 80 people to do (it's called the Cheshire Cat Experiment, it's to do with binocular rivalry). The word count and content are HUGE problems but not because they're too big.. I find it's far too small with a subject like this. I researched human consciousness for 6-7months and I have little doubt I could write a book on it myself right now, so cramming one massive concept into a tiny 8k word essay, a presentation and a research proposal is very annoying.. and it's more annoying because I only have 4 months to find a way to do it.. lmoa

Big word counts don't bother me much after writing a book that is currently at 170,000 words in length...it's small ones and finding all the bloody sources when I already know what I am writing that drives me mad.
