Why do people feel the need to hide in empires now?
I'm sure fighting in the great war was fun, and i'm sure people have strong links with other players in there empires, but the game is becoming stale.
People need to move around, start new things. Look for new goals, Its such a good feeling knowing that YOU built your alliance, you worked it up from the ground, you made a difference to other peoples accounts.
Why don't people feel the need to go out and change the game like they use to?
The war is over so why are people still sitting around in there boring alliances? If everyone is grouped together we will just have another large 1 side vs 1 side war.
Also if people feel so large and strong on there own why do you even need to be in empires that have 6-7-8 or even 9 alliances strong ?
Protection? Surely not, if your so good on your own you don't need the protection of others. You should be able to stand your ground.
I'm sick of large Empires, they offer the most boring way to kill the game.
I would love to hear other people opinions on this matter.

Having founded a bunch of alliances myself, I have to agree. If one of them holds out, lives on to become something worth remembering, it's a good feeling.
Mine weren't as impressive, successful or recognisable as Bad Wolf's alliances though.

I guess it depends on your perception - are people "hiding" or are they simply happy with a group of people they've known for years.
I agree that the growth of Empires destroyed many independent alliances....The Order is a prime example of one who resisted ETL's advances originally, then after the COP/CIA war chose to become The Dirty Order with DD, and then after the other war became The Dark Order with TJP. It is hard for small independent alliances to be powerful in the game without joining together into Empires.
Some have succeeded, but at the expense of regular attacks by the established Empires....some have perserved as a family such as FS, and others have tried to emulate it like NS.
I personally would much prefer to be in a small, independent alliance, rather than a conglomerate Empire.....but I know many of the disadvantages of being such, not least that it is very hard to be an independent power within the game without attracting the attentions of others....safety in numbers

Exactly, its a great feeling when you have made something, a click, a group.
It doesn't matter if mine were successful or what ever, it just matters if you enjoyed yourself. If your playing a game and your don't enjoy yourself then I think you should get out. As long as you had fun in your alliance than thats the key.

well empires are a way to play, its like god/slave relation, some joins to have an easy game but i think even the empire ruler dont like the full picture, they let their alliances fight their wars alone however sometime they step in.

I agree with you, Bad Wolf.
Hiding in Empires is just a way of admitting you cannot do anything on your own so you need help of many other players and then you start with excuses when it comes to war "empires are there cause we look after each other

"
Founding an alliance, and sticking with it at all times..Well that's something you can be proud of

thanks
the trick is to truly care more about your team mates then the game
i feel i know the members of FS better than some people who live on my block
i would love to see more independence in the game, however, it's not easy given the way the larger empires simply over run the small. To be a small war allaince, u need a devil may care team, who support each other
had thought maybe DoJ was headed that way, but alas, it is what it was. And that is a clear testament to what happening/can happen to the small.
I would love to see cooperativeness more than empires, but that an even harder trick.

I suppose it could have something to with a desire to be a part of something one deems to be greater than oneself.
or perhaps it has to do with satisfying of some desire of power and control over others that one does not have in ones real life.
or just wanting a very large group of people means there will always be someone on one can play/chat with.
But large empires are not going anywhere, best thing to do is just stay out of their way. Find a group of people whom you can have fun with, whether fighting with you, against you, or both.

No one's saying you should go away, so please
do keep on topic instead of taking things personal? There are other channels to relay comments regarding relevance.
Playing as a gear in the machine that forms an empire is just another way of playing.. some prefer it that way, others prefer another way.
