Why do people create "looking for alliance" threads?

I was just curious if there was any actual point to them.....because if you're an even remotely experienced player then you'll know every alliance's style and their requirements, so I was just wondering why people create them?

I've seen about ten in the last week or so when viewing new posts.....and all it really seems is a bit of an ego stroking and a lot of people posting "hey over here"....

So, my question is why do people create them? I'm genuinely curious....do the two lines people post really affect your decision to join their alliance? Has anyone radically changed their mind after creating such a thread?

yer tbh i think they just copy me
they want to get there Ego to be as big as mine...and the only way to do so is to get some positive feedback...

i also think they post it so it finds what allainces are intrested in having them so they dont apply to ones and get the REJECTED label put over them :smt047

To see who will take them and who is generally interested in taking that person on board.
When i last created my thread it did help a lot, well....kinda the opposite...
I started looking at a few alliances i wouldnt normally have looked at because they genuinely seemed interested in having me there rather than just being another number in their ranks.
Some people doubt their reputation so want to know if people like them enough to take them on board as well.
Its generally to see who cares

yeah, ive made one, basically cos there were lots that i was considering but in truth it was a pointless endeavor as i read through the posts of who was offering...and came up with..the ones who i was already considering. I think it is good for a new player, or at least one who has just come into the bigtime..and so it can give an idea for them.

Gatewars Personal should be the title of the forum.

SWM looking for blah blah.
Posting stats is like trying to describe what you look like.

I was interested in the how the various alliances of the game would sell themselves. What they think makes them attractive, and what they think they have to offer aspiring members. Hearing it straight from them, and not some passe recruitment thread, helps me better understand what makes them tick.

And also because I wasn't interested in joining one of the mainstream alliances. I've been there, and I've done that. I wanted to join something different.. something niche, something up and coming. Sometimes you have to look a little harder to find the alliances which are overlooked, and whose name isn't sprayed across the general headlines every other day.

Makes sense but you most likely you wont find any alliance which are not mainstream, reply in your topic. I assume thats why you didn't join an alliance.

Well, I think the big alliances are less likely to headhunt. They've already established themselves and their reputation, so they can effectively sit back and let the business come to them. An alliance which is just starting out has to actively search for members and grow from there. That's the kind of alliance I wanted, and that's why I advertised; not for the sake of making love to my ego.

And as to why I didn't join one.. well, all things are revealed in time. ;)

Yeah I agree, that large alliances can afford to sit back and wait for the 'right' people to come there way, although that has never been my way of thinking. I would always look for new alliance members as you never know who is asking for an alliance, how they an better your alliance and how you can better them and there playing experience.

I think a lot of larger alliances can loose out due to this.

I havent bothered to post in any of those topics, partly because I am often too late ;) though mostly, people will come to us if interested in us in the first place that and I am not going to jump on every thread and get in on the act, I will leave others to the scrabble for a person who cannot be bothered to know about what alliance they want to be in.
