Greased Gerbil's Quote Discussion #7 - Advertising

I thought of this one after seeing an infomercial. It was advertising one of those multi-function kitchen gadgets, and claimed that it had 'almost infinite' uses...
"Nothing can be 'almost infinite'. Any value that is finite and measurable will always be inconceivably less than infinity."

Umm...I dont see how this quote is anything less than fact. And yeah, I think its silly they use such meaningless terms in advertising.

Blame not the makers of the infomercials, blame the blind eye of the people. The deafened mind, tormented imagination. For such depravity naught but death is the solution.
Therefore I propose we make LETHAL INFOMERCIALS OF DEATH. May all who watch and believe wither and die. It is their .. *mechanical sigh* .. destiny..

all forms of advertising should be banned and advert execs should be lined up and shot in both kneecaps with sawn-off shotguns at point blank range!

So your shotgun is not only 'sawed-off', but 'modified to fire bullets' as well? Shotguns fire shells.. or slugs..

Pick something witty, to the point and appropriate, and imagine that is what I typed here.

the point i was trying to make was, saying "waste of a good bullet, eh?!" in place of "blah blah blah...shell" was merely a figure of speech, not a lack of knowledge regarding guns and their ammo.

No, advertising can be funny and cool.
For example, Addidas' advertising for world cup is cool, and the short Ronaldo part in Simpsons is funny.

Well, that ad worked for me..

there are very few ads which are indeed funny and entertaining, most are downright depressing and off-putting to the point i no longer watch anything live but recorded just so i can skip the ads, even watching live football i watch it 15 minutes behind just so i can forward the half time interval...
thank god for sky+!

Indeed. Digital television beats advertising. 'Pause' anyone?
