I mention it because one channel broadcasts old episodes and I saw this one today, and wondered if this race/planet was ever mentionned again.

Dont recall it ever being mentioned again, only that a reasonably advanced humanoid race were there and were probably wiped out by those giant wasp things.
Not a great episode IMO, one of the 'filler' episodes used to pad out the main story line, most long series have an underlying formula where the main storyline is in every other episode, and filler episodes are used to give character backgrounds and short stories to add some variety.

This was a lame episode. Definitely one of the poorer filler episodes.
I don't believe the planet or race etc was referred to again.
The only thing from this episode that did reappear in a later series was the little girl Ally, played by Colleen Rennison.
She later appeared in 5x06 Rite of Passage as Cassandra.

Inhabihants: The Svoriin, native to the planet of the same name, were a race of Humans who lived in peace for many years thanks to being under the protection of the Protected Planets Treaty. After being brought to their planet by the Asgard, the Svoriin built up a level of technology which would rival that of Earth in the late 20th century, but soon after they started using the Stargate a disaster struck their planet. While exploring a planet they had named Skaald, an insect stung one of their soldiers. After they brought this individual back to Svoriin, the bugs hatched from inside the infected man and were able to do the same and kill basically all of the population on the planet.
