you keep your MS (minus fleets), so all slots and weapons and shields
all planets and merlins are kept
you loose all your army (minus lifers), weapons and techs

oh.. also I have another question

. At the market you can increase your bank size. Will these increases stay after ascension? and can I see somewhere what my "natural" capacity is? thx

i have a question about that
Use ONE market turn in exchange for an increase of 10 percent of your natural 'bank' size. For you, as of last turn, this is: 7,775,277,314.
clearly this mins my natural bank is 77,752,773,140
i just used a turn on it and the result is
Use ONE market turn in exchange for an increase of 10 percent of your natural 'bank' size. For you, as of last turn, this is: 7,617,243,864.
how can my natural bank size drop just by using a market turn?

*scratches head* Did you do anything in between? Untrain/train miners, attack someone or got attacked by someone?.... It might be an explanation...

nope, didnt even leave the market
apparantly the bonus you get decreases each time you use it
but then it steadily goes back up
Use ONE market turn in exchange for an increase of 10 percent of your natural 'bank' size. For you, as of last turn, this is: 7,775,278,972.

You have to wait till after a turn change for the bank increase to take effect.

That's not really what he was saying.
I don't know why the natural bank size increase would appear less after you have clicked the button to upgrade it, one would have thought it would remain the same unless miners were trained/untrained which you said you didn't do as you never left the market.
Strange.
