A "test" about selfishness

Sonny: Alright, listen to me. You pull up right where she lives, right? Before you get outta the car, you lock both doors. Then, get outta the car, you walk over to her. You bring her over to the car. Dig out the key, put it in the lock and open the door for her. Then you let her get in. Then you close the door. Then you walk around the back of the car and look through the rear window. If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button so that you can get in: dump her.
Calogero 'C' Anello: Just like that?
Sonny: Listen to me, kid. If she doesn't reach over and lift up that button so that you can get in, that means she's a selfish broad and all you're seeing is the tip of the iceberg. You dump her and you dump her fast.

Think it has any credit/truthfulness/realism? :-k

That's from a drama movie btw.

I agree with the guy but who am I to judge when I've sworn not to get into a serious relationship again, heh :P

Re: A "test" about selfishness

my immediate reaction was I'd unlock the door, but then i started thinking.. it would depend on car location, time of day/night..

Re: A "test" about selfishness

I guess if my car hadn't had central locking I might have been saved a lot of trouble.

I think it's more of a joke to be honest, it's the kind of bad advice I'd give at least

Re: A "test" about selfishness

Well this movie isn't a comedy movie, and the girl in question there, does indeed open the door from inside.

rofl, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard...

I'd not unlock the door, not because I am selfish but simply due to the fact that it would never occur to me to bother. He has a key, he can let himself in

I didn't have a key, he had to let me in. There is a difference

Before posting such comments, I think you should consider twice what is it about, because reading your post, it doesn't seem you saw what it was about..

Well I've noticed the occasional 'joke' thrown into dramatic movies as a kind of comic relief, relieve the tension and what not.

Although it could be mixed in with the guy that's been hurt before and doesn't wanna trust again (pronounced: emo) but who knows.

Either way it's bad advice as Mordack pointed out we live in an age of central locking

Well this movie is from early 70's (movie is 16 years old but story takes place in 70's) so indeed central locking wasn't really a problem back then..

HOWEVER central locking sometimes doesn't work properly (I know about that) so then...

Oh really?
This isn't about thinking what you would do if you were the woman in question getting in the car, unless you are a woman, of course.. :-k
