Bug when spying ID=1924070

I was tipped off by a friend of mine that this player,
who we are both at peace with,

could not be successfully spied... due to a bug.

I tested this repeatedly and found my friend to be correct.

I tested other players in the same alliance, other players that I am at peace with, etc.

I reset my relations with VirusJC to neutral and tested again.

no dice.

which makes the final comment very amusing to me:

This is clearly a bug report for Admin Jason...

I hate to necro, but the bug is back...

and apparently the exact same bug & bug message.

I confirmed the bug with SlimD, whose covert is mucho higher than mine, before posting...



I think the problem is the following planet name:

VirusJC's Planet

^^^ note the apostrophe...

if I send 1 spy, I fail as usual... send a ton of spies, on a good covert...

and I get this:

VirusJC is currently on PPT.

I would appreciate it if an admin, or at least his alliance could get him to change his planet name.

confirmed, can't spy him either.

confirmed the bug is back.. or search the db for planet names that cause this and rename them forcibly.

I seem to recall seeing an inactive with a planet like that..wonder if they can be taken? hmm

you cannot say that he knowingly used/abused the bug. there isnt much to gain from this "bug" really in terms of resources or an advantage as such.

it may be possible the planets name messed up the sql coding but admin was supposed to have fixed that "no characters" bug in the planet names previously.

nonthless report to admin to investigate before it becomes a bigger issue.

also a pm to the player to change the planet name and advise of what is happning.

still not fixed, same guy

Admin Jason led us to believe that he could not write a script that would force all such non-alphanumeric planet names to be changed...

but yes, this one in particular needs attention.
