Don't know where to post this i guess this is the best place.
SO anyway I was playing call of duty and yeah all of a sudden my ps3 turns off and starts flashing red.
I reboot it and try again boots up for about 2 seconds and then it turns flashing red again.
Any ideas on what the problem is because all over google all I can find is the yellow blinking light but no red one

You can't have searched too hard then mate, i just put in red flashing light on ps3 and it came up with thousands of pgs relating to it, i suggest you try again, most of the sites i looked at briefly said its an over heating prob and you'd need to ring sony direct and in most cases they swapped it over for another unit. Not a new unit i'm afraid but a refurbished unit and you might have to wait 6 weeks. Ouchie. ~T~

Actually you can find that on their own homepage.

There is a list of what the error is depending on how it blinks.

The blinking is the PS3 way of telling you what the issue is.

Well actually it depends on how many times it blink if its because of overheating.

I recall its 7 fast blink for overheating as the error code in blinkings are the same on all their products ALMOST all i better say that as a few has another blinking patern.

I know because my TV turned out and blinked and when i looked i found out that pretty much PS3, PS2 and most of their TV's used that guide to tell you what was wrong there is a few situations where it are not shown. But as you say correctly call Sony.

Lol 360 is worse than PS3 and always has been have both.

I dont want to go xbox cos i have a lot of stuff bought from playstation store
I havent touched my ps3 for 5 days and tried to turn it on got same result so i guess its not overheating.
is it the hard drive?

360 here mate, and i was just being a kind soul, on another note the old 360 had serious problems overheating but i think they have fixed that on the nice new quieter 360 that looks so much more flashy too.

Contact Sony thats what i would do.

Or search the internet as everyone else does.

I have found several solutiuons already but not sure which works for you.
