Although If ascensions are to stay the doubling per ascension is probably a bit too much, maybe a slight tweaking would be needed. So instead of doubling make it accumulative % increases, with the % decreasing per ascension?
level 1 = +100% to current power, income per unit, etc
level 2 = +95%
level 3 = +90%
....
level 20 = 5%
A person on level 20 will have ~3198x the power of a player with no ascension, which is a huge advantage but a little less than the current 8192x from level 13 doubling. It'll bring more strategy into which ascension levels are worthwhile as well.
Actually a more interesting increase would be if the percentages followed a curve:

Gives a total power/income increase of ~5016x (5860x with the second option) compared to 3198x with the decreasing % or 8192x at level 13 with the current doubling system...
Cutting down on the snowball effect a little bit in future eras might be a good idea, not too much, I like it, but a little bit...

I don't know, any other thoughts on this if ascensions become permanent?
edit: and being 20 levels admin could make it 3 ascension bonuses from SS purchases, gives him a bit more $$ to encourage further enhancements of Q
