I generally use a natural shoe polish to "fill" in the scratches and that normally helps alot. ~T~

brasso works
you get a smooth cloth, put a little bit of brasso on it, then rub IN CIRCLES from the inside out on the disk

Might sound funny but its for some reason true.

Sometimes when i just want a disk to work and its scratches alot.

What i do is i take some touthpaste and slowly in circles fill it then slowly remove the paste again without taking it from the scratch.

Put the disk into the drive RIP it and i am done it don't always work and sometimes i have to do it a few times before it works but why and how don't ask me lol.

Or go online and find a copy and download lol the proberly fastest way lol.

Lol then you should see my 2000 ways of fixing a broken HDD.

We talk everything from dropping it, hitting it, freesing it and so on and they all work it all depends on how it went awall on what might fix it and i must say i am surprised it works i have tested a few out my self.

On the paste thing yeh i didn't believe it my self at first but then i triede and wow.

Hehe why pay when you can do it cheaper and for almost free your self at home?

As you can read he fixed it.

Kit-Fox wrote:Dont forget that before you fill the scratch in with something you need to clean the disc of dirt.

Something like white spirit will do great & dont forget to use an appropiate cloth when doing it so you dont add more scratches. I'd suggest like a chamois cloth. Dont use something that is ultimately made from wood (like a paper towel / tissues etc)

And make sure the disc is dry before filling in the scratch.

Its sometimes easier to just skim the polycarbonate down, there is enough there on the bottom layer of the disc to skim it down a mm.

Wow alot of work but yeh maybe it works out never triede that one i think i will stick to my touthpaste or online download lol.

Kit-Fox wrote:Yeah its a lot fo work, but if your filling the scratch in you need to make sure nothing is in the scratch that could affect the reflections of the laser.

As for skimming the polycarbonate down, thats what these polishing machines do.

Ahh hehe well as long my trusted Touthpaste work i will stick to that lol.
