Why people get confused of what is spam....

This is why people don't quite understand what constitutes spam and therefore a warnable offense and what doesn't constitute spam.
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=173636&start=0The majority of that thread is spam. Eärendil even said please don't spam (granted not in orange colour) but yet he continued to reply to it anyway, therefore making his reply spam. The following post by Z E R O was spam as the thread is about recruiting officers not about past officers or anyone having anything special with anyone. Then Eärendil's response continues the spam.
Also recently there was a debate about people posting things in account sale threads other than offers of $$. What relevance does this have to do with how much RoKeT is looking to sell the account for?
viewtopic.php?f=131&t=171051&p=2184270#p2184270We always get told to PM such comments like that because its not relevant to the topic at hand. Why do we have to PM stuff like that but admins don't?
If Admins are allowed to do stuff like this then how do you expect people to refrain from going off topic?

People in the past have been warned for making a non relevant comment then following it up by a relevant comment or a bump.
So why are Mods allowed to do it?
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=172810&p=2182716#p2182716And why are Mods allowed to spam here?
viewtopic.php?f=142&t=172974In regards to SS's post about condoms I do believe it is not relevant to the thread but is a continuation of off topic chatter.

well, technically they should be but then there wouldn't be anyone left in the forum except for mods

Where did you pluck that one out of? I never said people that post Bump are making spam.

I generally allow "cheeky" comments as bumps, in recruiting topics and the such dumb little posts are allowed as friendly banter to replace page long posts of just "bump." In the past I believe I have posted to the exact contrary and I'm sure you could quote a post proving as much. I've changed my mind though.

Location of spam should have no affect on the rules besides the temple.

Well, it does. In more technical places like "Bugs" and "Forum Specific Issues" there is pretty much none allowed as it's srs discussion tiems. Other places like the GC and SGW General it's rather lenient so people can be friendly and actually chat. I believe Deni said this almost exact same thing earlier today in some topic.

Your post i linked to here where you made an off topic comment and followed it up with a bump is the same as when i replied to you in the GC and then followed it up with a "have fun both sides" comment.
Difference is you immediately warned me for spam. All i did was correct you on a mistake you made as a Mod which related to that actual thread. One part of the post being off topic and one part on topic. Yet i get warned and you don't. This is what's wrong with the moderation on this forum.

You are linking topics/posts where the post it's self is a bump/reply to people.
No I'm posting topics where people have made an off topic comment and followed it up with a bump. A situation where many people before have been warned for spamming. Yet Mods are allowed to do it. You yourself have stated people can't make off topic posts and try and justify it will a small comment such as bump.

You bumped a topic in the GC? Since when do these need to be bumped? That in itself could be considered spam. I see the merit of your argument and admit in the past I have made mistakes and always stride to improve how I Mod. That situation could be seen as such.

I dunno about that... did he spam somewhere that warrants a warning?

indeed,
odd I was banned after "repeatedly" spamming.. but I have only ever once been sent a pm telling me something I posted was considered spam. :s
Also sometimes a single emot, says more than a 1000 words ever could. Consideration should be taken of the emot used and the context in which it was applied.
