if posting a single emot is to be considered Spam, why not set a minimum character limit for forum.
ie under 3 character and post cant be submitted

we have, unfortunately, been unable to locate that feature in the ACP. Had it but been for that minuscule detail, we'd have implemented it already...

No one said you can't reply with a single emote. Flooding a topic with such posts is against the rules though. So I wouldn't agree with a character limit, but I guess Zeratul looked and couldn't find one so! Whatevs.

hmm then why was my post considered spam and I got a full warning for it, when I quoted and added a single emot?
several times, it has been stated by mods now that posting a single emot is spam ergo against forum rules.. was just trying to post a suggestion to prevent others from getting a warning for similar "spamming"

You obviously didn't look very hard then....
ACP > General > Post Settings > Maximum characters per post
Simples.

So in effect my banning was against forum rules?
and yes Eary, emots can be used to display context as well as a whole lot of other things in one simple way.. have you not heard one picture paints a thousand words.
Which is exactly what I did, and got banned for.

Simples.
There is a rather big difference between the words "maximum" and "minimum".

haha so there is, that's what you get for posting before 6am!
And this is why phpbb forums are so crap cause they don't have something as simple as minimum characters built-in. This place would be so much better if Jason gave someone rights to implement Mods.

Exactly.
Sometimes an emote says everything and other times it is just spam.
