It is with a 'heavy heart' that I bring a full bearing onto what has transpired in the last 72 hours.

As of 16th December 2010 the last live, new and sure continuing bastion of the Stargate franchise was brought to an end. Scyfy officially cancelled SGU.

Some of you may wonder why I post this here.. and mods.. by all means in time move this away..but I feel this has a very great impact on the game and is highly related so deserves a place in this section.

Let us not forget that Stargate is what ultimately brought us all here..whether we watched it, knew of it or not. This game was born from that franchise and with this final act.. the future of the patriarch of all this is now in bleak disarray.

This loss also cast's a long shadow over Gate Wars itself leaving us with naught but the past so many are desperately trying to move away from.

So. As a final tribute to a fantastic media ride that bore a gaming legacy that has had a positive effect on a small part of my life (I hope lol) I think it prudent just to at least hand out awareness.. and say thanks, maybe reminisce at most.

I'm not rly surprised it took them way too long to get into the technological aspects of Universe and there were not even close to enough battles

I agree, it took way to long to really get anywhere. it did have much promise.

But i'm remembering where their was supposed to be some movies coming out, SG-A or something.
I've not heard anything bout that.

So here's to hopes of the continuing of the Stargate Story.

They bloody better give it a good send off. I mean they had planned a definitive end to SGU from the start and what with the whole coded message thing it could be great. Please let them have long enough to give it a swan song. I really enjoy SGU and i enjoyed SG1 and SGA.

Meh.. most people gave up on the SG aspect of SGW long ago. In fact.. most people don't bother with the W either.. its really just number builder 2.0.

Stargate Universe was never meant to be a copy of SG1 or SGA, copy as in running in to aliens and having battles in space and on other planets. SGU was meant to be more character based. More plots within Destiny and focus on each of the crew more heavily than aliens. Look at SGA, they focused heavily on Aliens such as the Wraith and then went and brought in the stupid boring human replicators..... FAIL.

SGU was more about the battle within the crew, between the leader and the scientist, between the military and the civilians. This is what made it stand apart from SG1 and SGA and this is what made it unique. This is what made it become awesome especially as we got in to the 2nd season. It was never meant to be all about battles with aliens in space. There were "plenty" of battles in SGU but I guess you were expecting a different kind of "battle".

SGU is not dead in the water yet, there's always the chance another Network may pick it up, at least to finish it off and give some closure even if they did it in only one more season.

fracking scify channel sucks another good series canned for more wrestling repeats, reality pap and even worse made for tv naff movies

Can anyone explain me why is there wrestling in Syfy? (read in GateWorld that SGU got moved to another day from friday and this caused its downfall, as WWE and Sanctuary were on friday already)

Because SYFY are morons, and their greed has blinded them to what is actually scifi.

I was never a fan of Universe, as has been pointed out and as was said when they where makeing it, it was meant to be different, so to me, it wasnt a real stargate franchise. It was something new. I doubt anouther network picks it up, but it would be nice to think that could happen.

Either way i look to the future and hope Extinction gets made... Or i fear we may all be extinct this time next year!

Very well said and i share your feeling in exactness!

It's very depressing to see this end, however, I wish they would bring it back. The stupidity of Marketing is killing all of the enjoyable shows in life for shows that have funding like Paris Hiltons New Boyfriend or another version of American Idol. I care for neither.

It's sad to see this show go, but hopefully the last half of this season will be with me forever.
