Active topics?

Ok hopefully a fairly simple question.
What's the trigger for a topic to be deemed "active" i.e I always use the "view active topics" link when browsing this forum. I assumed it meant any threads that had been posted in recently.
I just replied to a thread under convention\meet ups and noticed when I click "view active topics" my post isn't there. But if I click "View new posts" it is.
So does an older thread require multiple posts for it to be deemed active?
not a big issue really, just curious as I'm obviously missing some posts using this link

There is a setting that determines from which sections/subforums the active topics are to be displayed.
Maybe we can use this topic to determine together with the community what the best settings are and posts from which forums/sections the community wants to have displayed as active topics.
For example: I would exclude the market.
Suggestions pls

not 100% sure, but if the counter is the same one as the one tagged in the ACP as "popular", then it is 60
ACP wrote:Popular topic threshold: 60
Posts per topic threshold required for the popular topic annotation
there's also the subforum-based setting deni mentioned... So it could potentially be a combination of those...
not sure what the setting is if its not this counter...

Well from a purely selfish point of view it would be nice if the awards (nominations\voting) didn't show under active topics. The awards are something you have to "subscribe" to take part in, yet for those of us that have no interest in them, it's all we see come this time of year

Makes sense.
What about the role play sections? The race ones? Quantum? Chaos? The Temple?

Well personally I don't needto see any of them,
But I can see why Chaos and Quantum would be visible, but Temple and Roleplay?
It might be a lot of work to change now, but if all those sections were subscribed, then it would be easy to only show people the sections they have access to.

There are usergroups called "no Temple" and "no Quantum" etc that every user can join if they do not want to see / read them.
I think it is the better option letting users opt out than having users subscribe to see them.
But lets stick to the topic: Posts from which sections do you all want to see displayed under "active topics" and which sections should be excluded?

I think everything should be shown unless your part of the "no X" group.

Snap. Saves trolling through the forums looking for active topics.

This. Was there ever a decision made?

Due to a lack of feedback, nothing was customized/modified.
