We decided recently (today) to see that old movie again (after many years) and we were somewhat surprised by the many interesting details we'd missed out on... fairly good special effects for a 13 year old movie (we'd say)...

It's one of my favourite films. I love anything Faustian, and I love Al Pacino even more. His epic tirade against God in the final scene is great movie moment, my personal favourite part being the bit where he describes love as overrated and biochemically no different to chocolate.

When we first saw the devil character there, we thought it was the same actor as general landry, even if a quick search robbed us of that illusion...
Image

Great movie, havent seen it in several years but still remember it fondly.

I dont usually go for Al Pacino films because I find seeing him as a 'Hard man' a bit comical, but this one actually draws attention to him wearing 'booster heels' to look taller which I found very funny, great script and acting, story works well ( not totally original as various parts of the movie remind you of other movies/stories ),
and the ending where the devil just switches to exploiting another sin is perfect
.

Last part spoilered. Thanks ](*,)

You got any similar movies (faustian and all that) to recommend, mordack?

Oh, and do people agree with that comparison we made?

Oh, I remember this movie. I enjoyed it. Long time ago though.

I love movies like this, and another recent one was called "Devil".. I think.
