It's no Rocky, but still a great gritty boxing movie, and based on a true story.

Anyone else seen this ?

Indeed, I enjoyed it. It had the feel of Cinderella Man to me.

I love movies with "heart" to it, if you will. :D

True, less of the glitzy glamoursied morality tales & dreams coming true, more real, where everyone is both good & bad, and really have to struggle & work hard to achieve things.

That's how the old movies were. That's why I loved it. Less special effects, and more heart.

Back when making money wasn't such a huge deal as producing a quality picture. Pity that it will become "3D EVERYTHING" from now on..

Couldnt agree more, special effects can WOW you for a brief moment before they become the norm, they can even be entertaining short term, but they are not what makes great movies.

3D seems a very niche market to me, good for cinema versions of CGI films, maybe good for home gaming if it works properly, BUT I cant understand why anyone would want to sit an watch a movie at home with it, I spent £3200 on laser treatment so I wouldnt have to wear glasses anyone, stuffed im gonna pay £1000 on a TV you have to wear glasses to watch, and what about eating, chatting, smoking etc while you watch, how do you do that with freaky 3D glasses on ? Also 3D TVs have lower definition on non-3D stuff so unless you have 2 TVs in your living room its just lame.

It's a market they haven't tapped. That's why it is suddenly "the next best thing". Nobody cares for these 3D movies (true movie people IMO) because it's just like special effects. Nothing special.

Let's not forget..how many scenes are actually 3D? It's pathetic. I can watch a 3D movie like Pirahna's and be fine except for like 3 scenes..so sad.

Otherwise - I loved this movie. They need more like it.

Bring back Dirty Harry imo.
