The GateWars DEvoluton full circle Theory™

As Time goes by and spy levels have once again come to the forefront of the game, i find myself coming to a strange conclusion, Instead of ascending to higher levels, in another five years time, we may well all end up Descending ourselves to be replicators, just in order to save naq on buying spy levels. You save around 200 bill on level 39 being a repli at the moment, thats the current "top end" spy level, thats not a huge amount ingame terms these days, but in a few years time, if spy levels remain so important to defence and offence... and with their ever increaseing price, saveing a few quadrillion by descending yourself could be a possibilty...

... Watch this space!

Buck - Has too much time on his hands.

Except that an Unknown gets 47% stat boost compared to an un-ascended, as well as weapons that are more powerful and a large AB %.

1 Mil Spies, Unknown, 41: 6.8 tril power
1 Mil Spies, Unascended, 42: 6.5 tril power

1 Mil Spies, Unknown, 45: 27.2 tril power
1 Mil Spies, Unascended, 46: 26.2 tril power

1 Mil Spies, Unknown, 49: 109.8 tril power -> 1.7 quint in cost
1 Mil Spies, Replicator, 50: 130.9 tril power -> 3 quint in cost

1 Mil Spies, Unknown, 42: 9.6 tril power -> 26.4 quad in cost (2.75 quad per 1 tril power)
1 Mil Spies, Replicator, 42: 8.2 tril power -> 23.7 quad in cost (2.89 quad per 1 tril power)

Unless the amount saved over the levels is more than the cost of the next level, it is not worth it. Interesting thought though.

I'ma take this time to let everyone know. I remember before sabotage was introduced, and Attacking was where it was at...

now if you'll excuse me i'll go excuse myself to the old people's home.

Great post by buck as always.

Like BMMJ pointed out the bonus of being a UnKnown of even 20x ascended + is still worth it though.

Plus if we go into it - you'll also always need strike and deff etc and the bonuses there are more valuable.

I was wondering the other day if an alliance would be better off with one replicator and boost him to covert lvl 39 - but I think it's better to spend the extra naq for the same level on a UnKnown.

An interesting post as always buck :D

Do replicators still get the cheaper spy lvls? If so what is the discount? Yes, they may lose the ascended stat bonus, but they do have their own 25% covert bonus, and if in the House of Science they nullify ABs entirely. So the only major disadvantage are the weaker weps....

Now, if Jason had left it like the game was immediately after the recent updates (with sab way more powerful) then this idea would probably have legs....as it is, I doubt anyone will choose it.....but you never know - these big alliances may have a specialist Replicator, or even a Goauld for cleanup duties :P

If races were actually more specialized and got a proper bonus then it might be fun and involve tactics ;P

Agreed the original race bonuses were good, they gave a little role play to those who like that kind of thing, and encouraged teamwork between the specialists.

A things are now, the big $$$ spenders and obsessively active players buy themselves MS, Covert/AC levels, Unknowns etc and can do every aspect of massing/sabbing/ACing on there own, there is little specialising and the alliance repair / PPT means teamwork is not needed since one player can defend an entire alliance with one click from a team of any size.

As for Bucks idea, I think we're a way off that yet, but who knows with massing so expensive and Covert getting insanely high in a few years........... guess it depends on what downgrades, erm I mean 'updates' admin comes up with next.

I checked it again as I wasn't sure of what the %'s were before, added to my earlier post. At no point will it ever be cheaper to be a Replicator, because no matter what level, the 10% discount and 25% boost will never be better than the 47% boost of an Unknown.

I actually tried developing a system that would allow un-ascended accounts the ability to compete much better, at a similar cost to ascending if your interested.
