New 8 part BBC Sci Fi, got off to a great start last night.

Basically the earth is dead or dying and a new planet has been found with suitable earthlike conditions, but will people really do any better with a fresh start or will they repeat the mistakes of the old world ?

Episode 1
Started to build the characters, set the history, show the settlement and hint towards a dark secret the leaders have about there early days on the new world.

Giant evacuation ships have been built and sent to this new world, a 5 year voyage and one way ticket, at least one ship has arrived safely and has been there for 10 years already building the settlement and preparing for the arrival of the rest. At least one ship has been destroyed entering orbit, others were sent, but how many ? They are late so will they arrive or have they been lost ? All contact with Earth has been lost but the last contact dont look good. Now this mirco-society is already falling into the failings of the old world, elitism, people wanting to break away and form their own settlement in secret, we get a glimpse of a dark secret the leader have from the early days when they arrived, and the arrival of someone they think will challenge them.

If you want lasers, shields and beam me up scotty go watch something else, this is sci fi but it's more about people and the apart from the evacuation ships and a memory reading gadget the tech seems current and within realistically possible advances for the next decade.
Anyone else watching this ?

yeah was a great first episode...quite shocked by the quality of a BBC programme.

Can't wait to see the 2nd episode tonight
The only bit I found a bit far fetched, was them describing how the children got ill and the fact they had a "halo" glowing around their head

Was also quitesurprised to see what I thought ws going to be a major character, getting killed in episode 1
Replies a spoiler too, spoiler city lol
Yeah the main character and his wife being built up and killed off was a bit of a shocker, and the halo thing seems a bit far fetched. Hopefully the standoff between the Pass and Expo officers will heat up, and the new character in the escape shuttle should be a trouble maker. Also want to know more about the ones who were meant to be executed, were they infected, were they children ?? And how many more ships will arrive, maybe they will arrive in the last episode to find two groups making war on the surface, cant wait :-D
Just watched the first ep on iplayer...not bad...not brilliant either, but I'll probably watch the series....
I guess Jamie Bamber did his job - headline actor from BSG to front adverts and pull in sci fi fans - wonder what his wages were for that one ep? :P

Pity they killed him off....would have been nice to see the break-away faction under him, some civil war scenario. Shame too cos I hate the blond from Spooks #-o
It's not the storyline that rocks, per se.. it's the voices.
And that *HOT* guy. :smt060

Just watched the last episode, the BBC moved the shows times due to disappointing viewing figures, apparently the tasteless dumb masses prefer to watch crap like IdiotFactor, Washed up Celebs try to dance, and Pop Idols murdering great music on televised Karaoke.

I just hope this gem of a series amongst all the mind numbing trash gets to continue from the cliffhanger we were left on.

Spoilers
Fluer an AC, wow didnt see that coming. But I guess she will now bring the ACs home to help defend Fort Haven against the newcomers

Jack back on side, fight between Expo's and PASS officers averted

Berger alone and locked up, well at least til his new comers or religious cult break him out.

A new ship arrives with possible upcoming war for control of Fort Haven

Finally an explanation of the illness and defense against it
I want more
