are you using internet explorer, firefox or chrome?
try using a different one

its quite difficult to know whether a firewall or adblocker is being used unless you get told/set it up yourself

seems it was my browser, although i had tried to download firefox and chrome myself and was unable for some reason. astarael told me to download CCleaner which also installed chrome as my default browser and hey presto!

make sure, you have lots of free space in the c drive or your windows drive,
if not, use the disk cleanup utility and free up some space.
*you can clean the system restore files too
then
for best performance, try

advanced system care pro and smart defrag (iobit)
*enable auto defrag in smart defrag
*advanced system care increases overall performance.
*run a scan atleast once before going to next step.

Best browser is mozilla firefox.
So install firefox.
(if you want to remove unused programs, go to control panel, programs and files, and remove them)
*google chrome can be uninstalled too, if you love firefox.

To speedup your internet,
right click my computer, manage,. A window pops up
select 'devices and others'
find ports-communication ports
Open its settings, and increase the port speed(default is 9600)
set to highest value.
Reconnect internet.

Any questions?
;)

(but really, as long as someone isn't using IE, then I don't care. and even if they are, it's not my computer, not my problem. lol)

lol, from what I've heard, IE 8 was better than Chrome, at least for a long while...

maybe still is... :D
