Let us move on.

With all the topics on rage, criminality, politics and killing, the evermore "intelligent" debate club seems to encompass only the worse aspects of our lives while out-scoping the good ones. I'm making this thread in the hope of a new era in discussing literature, photos, theater, good books and nothing apocalyptic, no more doomsday.

Let me also point out some guidelines for further DISCUSSIONS and not DEBATE.

Please,
Do not think your opinion holds more value than anyone else's.
You're not posting to gloat or to be right.
Research, as in search and then do it again to be sure.
Keep it friendly.

I really hope the regulars in these sort of threads will post here and shift this dark, murky light into a bright and warm one.

:)

Everyone take your happy pills and dont watch the news lol

Many subjects debated / discussed here are subjective and rely on opinions not facts, and while I agree evidence to support you opinion is good, the internet search engines can always find so called evidence to support pretty much anything.

But since ya want a nice subject,

Whats does everyone think about the UK governments plans to measure the 'happiness' of the populous and Analise the results in league tables ?

Can you really measure happiness ?

If you find one specific group of people, say a profession in a certain area is way below average happiness can you really make them happier ?

Would you say tax the happiest and give to the least happy in an attempt to make everyone equally happy ?

lolz I love absurdity, has posting this made me measurable more happy ? If so for how long :smt043

I think we pass on that one ;) After all didnt most of the others get locked eventually?

Nope [-( we discussed legalising it and whatnot, we even discussed the "hemp conspiracy", but we haven't discussed how it can improve ones life...such as making everybody happy, and in a world where true happiness is sorely lacking for a vast amount of people...i say it would be a bloody good thing if smoking weed (organic and natural of course, not this doctored crap that puts you on planet X) was made compulsory for 1 and all (except schizos), especially for Banksters, The Pope, The Black Pope, politicians, Judges and coppers...hell, i would make it illegal to refuse to light one up if so ordered by a copper, punishable with life imprisonment :smt025

If weed saturated a society

Pr'o - everyone would be nicely stoned, content, non-aggressive, less competitive, live a slower pace of life and not stress of worry about stuff

Cons - Lack of ambition, apathy, lower productivity, less desire to work to buy crap, less desire to achieve anything, lots of people drifting about doing very little. Plus lower physical activity and munchies would probably result in more obesity and shorter lifespans. Also smoking it mixed with tobacco gets you addicted to a very dangerous and expense drug, Nicotine.

For me I was a very angry teenager, bad broken home, lots of fighting ( got done for ABH on a police officer at 15 ), lost a lot of friends because of lossing my temper. Weed chilled me out to the point where I could forgive people and tolerate most their imperfections, and my own. Hold down a good job, stay out of trouble and not stress or get angry about the things I couldnt change or control. If it wasnt for weed I would probably have ended up in jail.

As a recreational drug I think weed is far far better than any other, social, enjoyable, not physically addictive and the least toxic ( it is impossibly to overdose and die on week, one of few drugs legal or illegal than can say that ). But as a habit smoking every day, much of you life and opportunities will pass you by.

Personally I think weed should be legal, but with real factual education about all it's effects good and bad.

Kit-Fox wrote:As nice as it would be to have nice topics & to have some ground rules, it doesnt help when some people fly off the handle when asked simple lil questions relating to what they have said in their last post.

Oh and shouting all the time by talking in caps lock non stop, which is just rude & soooo not needed.

nice topics are well nice, no other way to really put it, but people want to discuss and inform people on real subjects that have relevance to life, theirs and others. I agree people acting bonkers don't really help the discussion, but neither do those who avoid, dismiss, or blatantly ignore information shared, that are documented facts, and instead attempt to distort the discussion with irrelevant questions or misinformation.

Not every person using caps is yelling, maybe the majority are some, like myself use it to EMPHASIZE what I am saying.

@ the weed discussion - its a simple argument its not moral for you to say what I can and cannot do with my own body. Regardless of the pros and cons, the argument is simple once you go beyond that and say its a gateway drug or gateway to criminal activity, ect your distorting the topic, if that is your concern fine, punish the violent offenders not the average user. The more hardcore substances do need over-site, weed is harmless at most.

Lmao...I don't think weed is known to be a success factor for school, or even for work.
I wouldn't talk about "improving your life". And no, I don't consider "flying high" to be a life improvement...

As a weed smoker I agree it is bad if used during education, it is bad if used during work time, like any drug ( including alcohol which many hypocrites seem to think is an exception just because it's legal ) it is bad when it becomes a habit used on a daily basis. But as a recreational drug, for social use it is the least harmful and has more positive effects than other recreational drugs.

As I said before I think weed should be legal, but with full and honest disclosure of all it's effects good and bad. When people have the facts they should be free to make their own informed choices.
