Thanks Odin.
Really Really sad day, can honestly say i havent shed a tear for awhile, some of the stuff i have seen today has changed the way i look at life.
May god be with all the Families of ChCh people.
It was felt all the way across the North Island. Much worse than the bigger quake last September, but this one was closer to the surface.

We are fine mate
Just a little shake down here. We know people in Christchurch who have lost homes but lucky enough to be uninjured. Most the fire engines in the entire south island were sent to stop fires from engulfing the city - They got them under control though which is a small blessing. Telecommunications have been hit too, internet is still working in Dunedin but some of the phone networks are down or not working properly. The old man gave me a call to make sure I still had a house before the network knocked out, must suck for those that really need them at the moment to locate family and friends.
Its good hearing about all the foreign aid being flown in from Australia and people are even coming from the States to help dig others out of the rubble

First wave of Australian Search and Rescue should be hitting the ground NOW - that was about 70 specialists and some sniffer dogs.
Further waves following.
Australia has a bit of an odd relationship with New Zealand. If you are good at something or internationally renowned, you are Aussie, if you aren't, you are a New Zealander BUT all joking aside, that won't stop the relief crews and the thoughts and prayers of those of us in Aussieland towards our trans-tasman Brothers and Sisters living in what should be our seventh state.
Be well, everyone, and be safe.

This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts are with you.
The world seems to have gone mad lately with so many disasters all hitting at once.
I hope the rescue teams find a lot more survivors in the 100 still missing or trapped.

Such tragic events always raise more questions.. I wish the survivors strength, families consolation and the government wisdom.

Looking at it you assume it unlikely anyone could have survived

Aye truly sad day indeed. The news stories were certainly a force of gravity when I end up seeing landmarks that I knew rubbled up and hearing about the severely tragic loss of life is shocking. I still have one friend unaccounted for as I havn't heard back from him yet (Dan if you read this it's Reddy).
