Making Planets "Perma-Merlined" - An Idiot's Guide

For a long time, I could not work out how people would call their planets "Perma-Merlined", it's a theory which sounds simple but in truth is not.

A planet can give your realm great benefits IF you are able to hold it.

I will put this theory into different numbers of planets that you wish to keep:

1 planets

    Protection Requirements
  • 2 PPTs (4 days)
  • 1 MT on MDSPD
  • Use merlins when not on PPT

You need 3 merlins per week for each planet and you have a total income of 5 MDSPD per week.

You will also gain 2 merlins extra per week.

2 planets

    Protection Requirements
  • 1 PPTs (2 days)
  • 2 MT on MDSPD
  • Use merlins when not on PPT

You need 10 merlins per week for the planets and you have a total income of 10 MDPSD per week.

3 planets

    Protection Requirements
  • 2 PPTs (4 days)
  • 1 MT on MDSPD
  • 1 USS
  • Use merlins when not on PPT

3 planets or more will require you to spend $$$....

You need 9 merlins per week for the planets and you have a total income of 5 MDPSD per week. You have a shortfall of 4 merlins...

This is the science part...

If you purchase 1 USS this will give you an extra 30 days plus the utilisation of an extra MT (as the USS gives you your PPT as well)...this is a total of 40 MDSPD for your first hit. As you have a shortfall for each week after that of 4, this will last you 10 weeks.

Using current market prices, that is farming 1T per day and selling on the market for $$. Something that is not necessarily condoned by the game owners, but an inherent part of the game nevertheless. The question is...do your planets assist you by 1T a day?

We can then apply the same theory to additional planets, using the 2 PPTs and 1 MT merlins with a USS.

This is how long your USS will now last:

4 planets - 5 weeks (5 remaining)
5 planets - 4 weeks
6 planets - 3 weeks (1 remaining)
7 planets - 2 weeks (8 remaining)
8 planets - 2 weeks (2 remaining)
9 planets - 2 USS' required - 3 weeks (9 remaining)
10 planets - 2 USS' required - 3 weeks

So basically, the number you have remaining can be collated until you have 40, at which point you can miss a USS.

How you value your planets and farm is your perogative. Just thought I'd make this guide as I was thinking about it :)

As a side note, the true value of a USS is not directly $50 of resources, consider that you recieve 11m Naq, 12k ATs and 13m UU. This personally is a market value of 32.1T Naq, which can be contributed towards your next USS :P

So a theoretical cost of approx. 17.9T of farming...

would just like to add that depending on the account, and the planning done prior to, and the amount of time allotted for,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you can do much more.

Say if your not much in a mood for PPTing or general non war behavior and you go 6 months or a year without useing planets or merlins, it possible to end up like a few people I know. "You have 339 days of MPDSD power stored.." So using the 4 days a week PPTed and buying merlin with the other its possible to hold 2, 5, or even 10 planets for well over a year, maybe even 2

4 duels = 8 planets,,,, 5 duels = 10 planets,,, and 10 duels would = 20 planets well built and protected for 1 year,,,,,,, well its all in what you consider worth it or not.

Or with the 2 planets you can use all 3 Market turns Gaining 15 merlins and use 14 merlins on them and have 1 merlin unused so you gain 1 per week . Just something to add to the 2 planet. :)

Yeah..this is valid too :smt019

So is Lore's :-D

There are many ways to protect planets...just dependant on the indivual's requirements :-D

This is what I would consider actually perma-merlined. No matter what happens, you can't lose the planets this way which can be quite useful for some. With your first post method, theres going to be one ppt that you eventually miss and then you will be sad. Almost everyone in game has missed at least 1 or 2 ppts and depending on who was watching they may have been a sad panda.
