planet idea

the basis of this idea is to have some kind of smei protection against the ima just build fleets then hit planet then sell.
idea: Motherships can be setn 2 1 planet like a [platform.
in order to conqure a planet 1 must first eliminate the ms. (drop it down to a certain amount)
b4 enemie mothership's fleets can engade the actual defense's of a planet.
it works both ways. as obviously peopel dont always build up there ms. so thats the risk factors.
also to do this a planet must be in your realm for 24 hours.

Already suggested it many moons ago as part of Multiple MS missions, one of the missions I suggested was assigning MS to Planet def.
I think the whole MS missions area should have been explored long ago and a variety of missions should be introduced, OK ground troops can attack instantly through the gate, but MSs have to travel and cant be in 2 places at once so I think MS should be assigned to 'add to strike' or 'add to homeworld def' or 'add to planet x def' or 'fleet combat' etc

my only problem with this would be that some of the obscene mothership powers that people have built up would suddenyl have even greater effect.
Though i do understand that with massing being a dying art, ms's have became more and more obselete.

not really. the ms can only protect 1 planet at a time.
and its easy to spot ms built accounts.
simply look at ranks.
adn with buidling ms lowerin ranks it prevents players from raiding.
so it has its draw backs. as well as its pro's

Less effect not more, MSs currently add to strike and def, if it was limited to one mission or the other they would be less effective, especially if it took a set length of time to switch mission.
MS were made less important by the doubling of stats last year, with att/def doubled MSs suddenly added a lower % to the overall strike or def. But they are far from obsolete and will soon grow back into there former importance, some of the monster MSs already add up to 3 trill to a strike and many more MS are growing.

sounds like a good idea, MSs need more functionality, their pretty boring as they are, too bad the admins dont check the suggestions thread

Ah but, how can your MS be out protecting a planet in your realm, and still be used to defend your own home planet,
To make this fair, 1 would have to send there MS to that planet say ( 2 hours to get there ) and it must remain there for 24 hours, thus meaning you cannot use it to defend your home planet, nor can you planet steal from anyone else other than someone who attacks that planet its defending, because after all, it its all the way out in your realm, it will not know what else is happening right
Now that would make some interesting tactical play.

How about if you do more than x hits with your fleets on a planet you cant sell them for 24 hours.
doesn't stop you from massing multiple planet defenses just stops you from being able to do it and then immediately recoup the costs of fleets.

Great ideas here

extension:
24 hour planet missions to protect your planets, you MS power would add its defensive power spread in % over the amount of planets.
ie 5 planets, each planet gets 20% of the ms's power in defence.
Merlined planets not included ofc.
And during flight off stealing, being unable to sell the fleets would be a good suggestion too. (12 hours)
