[05:21] DublinWarrior:
I used to play a game where u had 7 days to recover your account even after triple confirming that you wanted to delete...
[05:21] DublinWarrior: needless to say, I never tested it on something as important to me as SGW...
[05:21] DublinWarrior: but it would be a really good addition for security purposes against hackers...
along with email confirmation, etc...

A way to prevent raegquit?
I think only e mail confirmation is needed to prevent hackers, but backing up deleted accounts is unneeded.
If you rage quit tough luck to you for not controlling your temper

To someone who really wants their account back, admin generally helps out.
As for 'hackers'.. haven't been an issue for over a year now. Don't see why we should unnecessarily complicate things that aren't actual game elements.. (registration/login, keep them simple; all other things can be made as complicated as anyone wishes..)

Golden Wing got hacked just recently...
he thinks they hacked his email...
as have many hackers...
and since so many players, (not myself), use their MSN accounts as their primary email...
it's very easy to find said username...
as for rage-quit...
Of course, this game inspires lots of rage...
the least the game could do is recognize that...
...and try to lure the folks back in...

*chuckles* So you are suggesting 'security improvements' to cure the stupidity of users? Because the 'hacking' you describe is really nothing more than bad password management, bad information security management on the end user side of things.
It's like saying "There should be a third lock on all cars, because people regularly leave their keys in their car and then they end up stolen."
Of which I'm sure you see the .. well, point. Or lack thereof.
In those cases where the alleged 'hacking' is not a ploy to get either a rollback or some other freebies from admin, blame always ends up at the user side. You can't keep out a dedicated hacker by digging a moat.

We have Lithium. As long as he's around, no one should care.

u can't keep out a dedicated hacker / thief / terrorist or other criminal with anything...
what you can do is make it more difficult, more time-consuming, and more likely to get them caught.
IF you are so opposed to this, how does this hurt the game?

rage-quit is most likely with noobs... the ones we can not seem to keep...

Your suggestion doenst make it more troublesome for hackers to enter one's account, but have an option to get an account back after a deletion attempt.
In case of a genuine hacking, and an account gets deleted, and proof is self evidident of it, ... I think admin would correct it.

NO-ONE gets hacked in this game.
People "allow" their computers to get compromised. The number of times i had a spam MSN message because the person behind the account got compromised because they let their security down, man I don't even like to think about it.
You want better security ingame? Then everyone needs to improve their own security AT HOME.
Why do I say this? Because i am extremely secure at home, and have I ever had security issues with my ingame account or forum account or MSN account? No. never.
So instead of crying to admin about security, just buck up your own security and we all live happily ever after.

Show me one that is an actual SQL vulnerability, and not some hysteric user gone nuts.
