mercs/army size

Was this something proposed in chat or? It'd be nice you know.. if there was a thread once in awhile, maybe some actual discussion before an update is pushed on the community.

Maybe I missed the thread.. but seems like it would belong here. viewforum.php?f=43

Indeed it would be nice. Would also be nice if certain members of the community didn't use their influence with admin to get updates just because 1 person pushed soun boundaries...

Indeed. Its nice to see Jason active, but lets involve the community a bit more, yes?

As for this update - I'm not opposed to it as such, but it does allow those with larger stats to have more troops than those with less mercs, and still stay below plague...

I agree Ra. This should have been discussed in forums first.

RepliMagni is right, this change favours large players trying to beat the plague.

yeah but we had no wanring and i think it was s very sly moove by someone who didnt like what feri had done , wasting someones effrorts its almost the lowest thing ive seen ever , hell if you didnt like it that much why not mass it instead of gurning to admin like a child?

Surely this newer update counter-balances the previous plague update. Yes, Feri can't get 1bil army size because his 400mil mercs now only count as 200mil units, but that also works to his favour: he can now have more units in his account with plague taking less effect.

ie:
200mil def supers
200mil def mercs
50mil miners
100mil spies
550mil units total

And you're at the plague limit. Now with this new update, that configuration only counts as:450mil units - giving the bigger accounts with massive defs a chance to put a further 100mil units as either miners or covert units....consolidating the bigger accounts even more....

Basically, this update is a real game-changer, and no one seems to either 1) have talked about it, or 2) care.

Firstly i believe the reason behind the "not massing feri" is because you cant exactly mass or sab a 250 t without phasing, being a huge waste of resources and unlikely there would be enough time to do it without him logging in #-o. As a few people have pointed out its unmassable. Unless you have massed a 100t+ def recently or bared whitness to one being mass and can tell me otherwise.
Secondly this "sly move" can roll both ways as a beneficial sway towards large AS's and as non-beneficial one, and if im not mistaken feri was poking admin with a stick to do something like this, or so it looks like in the IRC chatlogs of this mornings meet. Props for packing more UU into an AS over the plague limit.

Kind of weird mate. Because to the outside world you can still reach 1bill, but your account will show otherwise. I Will give you mine as example.

Army size seen by everyone in ranks 771,227,032
Army size seen by myself on account 653,596,828
So you can get to 1bill on the rank pages, just your account shows a different number. :smt043

Yeah, I think Jason forgot to update a few lines of code there ;)

I think a lot of players care.

This change was implemented in between to the two meetings today so probably suggested to Jason privately.

Doesn't take a genius to work out who benefits from this change and its not the average player.

This change benefits those players who want to beat the plague and build huge armies.

Wouldn't it only have the effect of making mercs on par with supers?

As yes you can get twice the units now but mercs only have half the power out put...

I think Ryu was reffering to the plague update

I think this is indeed the way you have to look at it. A normal unit has the potential to make a 'super' out of it so it's indeed stronger as a merc. Hence why I find it a logic idea to count a merc only as a half unit.

Thats not really logical at all, its logical that a merc has half the power of a super, and so does a normal, but not half of its existence.
If anything, POWER (and thus existence or contribution to an AS) should be like normal<merc<super, that seems more of a logical step since normals hop over supers and mercs are stagnant in growth. Which i believe your trying to say anyway. But decided to cut mercs in half.
So your saying because normals == supers, then mercs=half a man? Sounds like your mixing between flesh and blood, and power. Then again how about you reverse it? supers=2 normal/mercs =1? or should i say supers=2 normals=2 mercs=1. Since a super can do double the power of a normal or merc unit you will need 2 of the others to compensate if it went missing. THATS logical.

actually u are bit wrong in the ONE PERSON, cuz if its Feri who u referring then its 1+10 officers who are pushing to beat plague which hasnt been revised until it was pushed to ground.
if the plague can be beat then it means its not completely setup to cap.
the last suggestion was from Rodwolf / Dmonix both from mH in the meeting , 1/2 count .

2 : 1 or 1 : 0.5 is the same mathmatical outcome, however using your idea it would put almost everyone over the plague cap and you'll have a bigger fuss then you got now :). But anyway, thx for saying my thinking pattern is logical afterall ;) .
