Ill post this for ADMIN and the rest of GW then Im back outta here.

Over the last 5 weeks I have posted the link to this game in many many forums across the net in hopes of recruiting brand new players..many have been interested but prefer the other games due to their eye appeal..so my suggestion is this...this game plays as good or better than the others..but this one has less eye appeal..do some work on that and the membership for GW will explode.

If admin isn't up for it I'm sure we can find a graphic designer to assist. People often go for the 'shiny' more 'fancy' looking games instead of this one.
I've tried having 2 of my friends play but they went for another similar game but better 'looking' if so to speak. Which was a total shame.

Jason and his team need to realize we need more players - and we want to save this game, not see it sink down to nothing.

If I could access IRC, I would speak with Jason about Photon's artwork, thread he posted in game suggestions seem to show quite interesting skins made by him, for sgw pages.
I would suggest your lot to link Admin to his thread, that's already one step towards graphic improvements (and of course dial-up users should have a low graphics option as it's currently the case, to have no issues with loading time)/

I think what really hurt us is the loss of the Stargate name, that's how I found it way back in 2005. I think KJ is right on the money, I'm sure of all the avid players we have someone would be willing to assist to help redesign the home page and many of the other things. Like the old Stargate based interfaces, and control panel.

Also(not sure how i feel about this), what about starting off new players with a little bit more UU and at's. and possibly even ascended(or ready to be) because if i was a new player and saw that I had at least 10-20 ascensions, hundreds of million UU, and naq to even put a dent in someone, I would be very very discouraged to continue. Like I said not sure how i feel about that, but it's an idea. (maybe to compensate existing players(who worked from nothing) give a push button (so people don't feel forced) free ascension(without any of the losses, just higher bonus and next name) If more new people come and are ascended it might liven the ascended server up a tad too

Looking pretty might get more people through the door, but there is little point if the game mechanics make them turn and walk back out.

Id agree getting new players is important, advertised and graphics, maybe even a rebranding on the game/components names and images.

I also think fixing the many flaws in the mechanics is far more important to keeping new and old players.

super huge gap between and what makes it worse are the actual bully players massing mini alliances and we have a lot of them , really a lot that dont fight whos their size but wipe mini's

Well guys with the amount of players leaving and the amount NOT coming in I think we need to look prettier.

Maybe this kind of updates needs a poll among players to be shown to spark interest among the players and that it's not that cosmetic after all?

how is it not cosmetic?
requesting an update the appearance of the site is purely cosmetic

By that I meant, that it's maybe a more wanted update than some of the "behind the curtain" updates, and this one would need less re-fixing (because there wouldn't be different sides claiming unbalance, controversies and stuff of that sort). Sure it would still be cosmetic, but I meant it's not something to consider as secondary on the "list" of updates. Wouldn't it be cool to have an update that doesn't create controversy among people?

There are many aspects of the game that help to bring in fresh players, and also to keep fresh players. Bringing in and keeping are two different things entirely.

I agree that graphics would play a big part in it. At least redesign the front login page to make it more attractive. if it looks more attractive from the start then people may be more inclined to sign up.

However, once signed up, the "keeping" them bit arises. Graphics alone will not keep people playing. New starter accounts need better resources, the increase J gave them recently is still nothing imo.

If i was fresh to this game and knew no-one, then when I start with such a little account and see all these big players with huge alliances/empires it would not take me long to give up, regardless of how super pretty the graphics might be. You'd get situations like this (which i know actually happen).... new player gets hit for naq, new player sends message asking them not to attack them as they are new to the game, attacker replies saying build a defence then. i know this sort of thing happens and it will be the actions of players that will be the eventual downfall of GW.

My opinion of this is:

Graphics = attract new players.
Game Mechanics = keep new players.

Both are important as one another, but neither will work without the other.

I agree, before you can keep them in the basket you have to get them in the basket..ya know, people that do not play this game dont know squat about the mechanics and all the BS behind the scenes..Catch thier eyes.

And I still signed up...maybe its not just about the graphics. (although I think that pic of Hathor's belly might have sealed it )

That being said, it certainly wouldn't hurt to:
Give the graphics an overhaul (but keep a dropdown option to keep this skin if people like it)
Give new players some much better bonuses to keep them playing more than a day
Introduce a new advertising campaign on other sites like GW

I'm willing to do an advertising campaign on GamerPerfection. Our customer base is still pretty small, but anything helps.
