for the last 2 days my pc has been making the sounds of a car Reeving itss engine (it starts then stops then starts then stops)

then about 15min later it just turns off :(

I opened it up and cleaned out the fans and noticed the Intel Board was kinda hot to rechecked the fan and for the last day its been fine.

15min ago it turned off again :(

Right now Temps are

HD0 : 36C
Core0 : 36C
Core1 : 32

those usually are at 40-50C i dunno but thats kinda hot

MY OS is Windows XP Professional

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz (90% sure CPU is Overclocked to 3.5-4GHz + gfx Card)

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Golden

Re: Pc Issue

I had those problems a long time ago, I believe something burnt out in my computer via overheating. I cannot remember which exactly, sorry, but I'd suggest taking it in to get it fixed ASAP before it just stops working completely. :P

It's overheating, or at least, that's what mine was doing with those descriptions~

yeah will be doing soon as i have time really my baby has been Fine for a long time now this happens :(

did a little light reading into Windows PC's

Seems there is a code in the BIOS or something that auto shuts down pc if it gets to hot(unconfirmed)

anyways is the noise something to worry about or is it just processing commands?

I would have thought that the noise is the fan not functioning properly. On my old PC I had problems similar to this and there was quite often a whirring noise that went up and down, it turned out to be the fan.

If it's the fan that's causing that noise in your machine then that would explain the over heating issue.

Oh my machine never got to your state, but that's because the "act of god" destroyed it by lightning strike to my house along with every other electrical equipment 10 years ago! plus side was I got a brand new PC back then under the guarantee. =D>

Re: Pc Issue

Noise is generally cause by a wore down axis's or clogged blades of the fans of either the:

Powersupply fan
CPU fan
Video card CPU fan

When power downs occur, you need to check the CPU fan.
Generally the fan is clogged, or the metal rimms below it.

If your not skilled removing a CPU and or its fan bring it to the store.
If you remove it yourself you well need to replace the cooling paste between the CPU itself and the metal rimms on top of that (directly below the CPU fan)

If you smoke, this will occurs more often then you like if you do not ventilate your room well.

If you got pets or kids, dont leave you case open. It should be safe but I always advice against it. Also, leaving the case opens creates a false airflow circulation which does not resemble the actuall sitiation.

If it once worked well without powerdown, its a sign of wear and tear, no need to change the BIOS.
Also, an overclock option in the BIOS may be guilty for having your CPU overheating more often.

Advice, seeing how you respond, take it to the store. With a little luck they can do it on the spot there for you.

Kit-Fox wrote:Assuming you have the ability you could try some logical fault finding.

Start with your case & internals fully accessible. disconnect/remove everything that is not absolutely not need to pass POST.

Run your PC and look for signs of trouble, then reconnect stuff one thing at a time & do the same, run your PC & pass the POST and see if prolems arise.

Also do visual check on the boards, check our transistors & your capacitors etc for obvious signs of burning or damage. Look to make sure discreet parts havent got bent of out position putting stress on their 'legs'

Make sure of course you take all safety precautions while doing so

:-"

If i do this goldy 90% chance of

A) Blowing up pc
B) short circuiting the entire block
C) gettin Zapped
D) playin around unplugging something needed and causing more damage.
E)Gettin Zapped
F)No experience with hardware so All of the above x 2.

Ive been waiting for your reply to my horror i Will not attempt to fix this on my own other than clean it out myself who knows could work but 90% of the time i end up regretting my actions and making things worse.

Re: Pc Issue

When you take it take there, simply explain what you want done.

"Clean my fans please, its making annoying noises, yes I smoke, I dont want to wreck it myself and rather have a pro do it"

Its a bit sucking up but shows you know what your dealig with.
This will save you from them charging you for lots of bull you didnt want checked or replaced.

Good luck ;)
