A random selection from my Lovefilm.com account to boost my list size and get a free rental led me to this little gem, I Claudius
Charting the history, in fighting, politics and betrayals of several generations of the roman empire as told by Claudius, Rome as done in the 70s, none of the gratuitous violence or sex due to the sensorship of the time in was made but great acting and a far more historically accurate than Rome.

Derek Jacobi
Brian Blessed
John Hurt
Patrick Stewart ( pre trekyspandex & when he still had hair lol )
Peter Bowles

Really ? Latin might have been the language they used at the time but it's not used in the TV series at all. It's not that highbrow, the producers were kind enough to dumb it down to English for us all lol

Where / how did you find it ? It was made in 1976 ( the year I was born ) so was a little before my time, and since Im an oldie here Im guessing long before your time. I never heard of it before finding it by accident.
Do you have any other gems like this in your collection I should try ?

I have both of those series too, also loved The Pillars of the Earth, tried The Tudors but couldnt get into that one, but do like most factual based historical stuff.

Oh, I know that. Apparently it gives an interesting view on the timeline and successions within Imperial Rome. That is what our teacher told us when she had us watch it, anyway.
