why is it some mods and others can still post in locked threads?

twice I've looked at that thread as its come up under view unread posts.

if its global forum announce made by an admin, the only ones that should be commenting further in it are the orginal poster or another admin.

The way the orginal post was worded is sure to raise forum users curiousity... but imo the thread should have been locked as soon as it was posted... its not the place to discuss it.

its a bad practice I've seen many times on here.. threads locked but mods continuing to post in them.

At one point it was locked, though to the best of my knowledge it should be unlocked currently. Try accessing it from a different section as it is a global announcement such as here: viewtopic.php?f=101&t=182499&start=15
or here
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=182499

If you access the topic from a section that is locked like "Announcements" then the topic will be locked as well. It was never locked as far I know, you just have to navigate to the topic by first going in to an unlocked section, like StargateWars General or some-such other.

it appears to be locked to user such as myself.. but other non mods have posted in it.

it is a Global Announcement and should have a thread of its own.. in a single most..

a discussion if it must be held should be in an open to all thread...

have a look, there is atleast one poster in there that to my knowledge has never been a mod, Clarkey lost mod powers long ago but can still post in it.

I am not aware of any permissions that would allow some users to post in it but not others, if you follow the link you posted in the opening post it should be unlocked. It reads as unlocked for me at least .. I'm not posting through a lock.

E.M.P. explained the situation in the previous post.

The Global Announcements section is a permanently locked forum. Anything that is posted in there is actually unlocked, it's just the forum section itself is locked, but is accessible from other open areas.

You too can post in it.

i was able to post in that thread, i used the 2nd link and it worked for me xD
