Sounds good to me, just make it that affects of update only apply after log in so we dont have a sudden jump in our inflation rate...

Also restrict race changing now by bringing back the losing all weapons and supers when changing

Even with other stats that is a major unneeded flux :P

This however does increase the gap between unascended and ascended. Every increasingly chasing noobs away...So I suggest we keep the unascendeds as they are and bring race specialty to the point where an ascended of a certain race has the same bonus as the unascended on top of all the other stat boosts

You dig?

Or must I clarify

Seems reasonable enough.

Didn't read ALL the fine detail, but it sounds similar to something I suggested over a year ago:
viewtopic.php?f=160&t=162732

Basically giving the option to NOT ascend, and still get bonuses that are competitive. Perhaps if we combined that, with merging all ascended accounts into just being for example "Unknown Ascended" instead of "Unknown of the Indu", since the stats are the same anyway...

I apologise if that takes the thread to far off topic, I just thought it seemed similar to your idea, and would mean that those that like a rounded bonus can have it, and those that like to specialise (aka spying/sabotage) are able to more easily.

as an idea to the % bonus:

23 ascensions,
No ascension gets you the 5% bonus (if race is set), and every other ascension after that, decreases the bonus with 0,2 % (ascension inflation ftw)

Prior, gets 4,8% bonus
Prophet, gets 4,6% bonus
Messiah, gets 4,4% bonus
Incarnate gets 4,2% bonus

etc etc etc

The unnamed gets 0,6% bonus
The unknown gets 0,4% bonus

Ofc other values could be used, but a system like this effectively decreases the gap between ascenion levels, though its just a bit. ;)

@SuperSaiyan
Actually my idea takes just as long, and just as much effort as ascending does. Just there's no need to play the ascended server, and you have a main attribute (like your idea) then sub-attributes.

@Nostra
Problem with that, is that there is no point in doing the last 5-odd ascensions. Since you get a lesser bonus, and you pay way more then it's worth. Only way this would work, would be to re-pay all those that have ascended what they lost, and then basically set the ascension time to 0-delay, and let people choose their ascension level for a month basically.

While that's true, I can see most players going for the covert one. Who wouldn't want a 36% covert bonus over others with a 38/39 level covert? I mean, your 36% attack advantages, sabbed away. Your 36% defence, the same deal. 36% more income, sounds like prime farms to me.

I dunno, it just seems like a lazy way, and almost not worth ascending past like the 10th, unless the costs come crashing down. In which case, compensation needs to be given. I know I'd rather my resources back from the last 4-5 ascensions at least, then 2% stat boost to just one stat

I don't question that it gives a purpose behind the race. My problem is that, it sorta goes from the old days "hey, the Goa'uld are cool, and I'll get more money, I'll go with them" to more of a "well, covert allows me to see peoples stuff, and hide better, should probably go with that"

I dunno. It would certainly mix things up. I just think a mechanism needs to be thought out, on how to recover/compensate those that ascended to unknown for the blessing and stats, who will now only get 11% stat boost to one area, and the blessing chance.

Perhaps. I'd keep arguing, but it's probably best to see others view points.

I am all for varying accounts more so were not all identical, I just don't know if this is the right way to go about it

What if you got to choose what bonus you get?
As in, Goa'uld start with the income bonus but after ascending you can choose a bonus for income, att, def, cov or ac (maybe more, I'm just using this as an example)
So if I choose the income bonus it would be a 5% bonus and decrease to 4.8% but the rest would stay at 5% until chosen at the next ascension
Or you could choose which one you want and they are always worth 1%

It would help alleviate the probable imbalance of most going to covert, but I think it'd still be skewed to wards covert. Though I find it hard to do anything about this, short of re-working all the race bonuses.

Bump  great idea. Bring roleplay back! It isn't a huge downgrade to stats... everyone will recieve the same.

The problem you are seeing with a lot of people tending towards covert is because in the minor races they also get cheaper weapons towards whatever their speciality is.. and have more power.

So go for something like:

Exploiter - Increased Income -
25 Percent Income Bonus + 1% Income bonus per ascension - Ascended
Protectionist - Increased Defence -
25 Percent Defence Bonus + 2% Defense bonus per ascension - Ascended
Invasive - Increased Covert/Infiltration Abilities -
25 Percent Covert Bonus + .5% Covert bonus per ascension - Ascended
Aggressive - Increased Offense -
25 Percent Attack Bonus + 2% Attack bonus per ascension - Ascended

To make it more balanced. So max 37ish% boost to cover but 65ish% boos to atk/defense. 1% boost to income like it is now with ascensions.

Honstly think this idea with a couple tweaks is the best yet for getting this game going and fun again :D
