How about adding a visual guide on how to play game, covering the basics for new players.

I like it, I think this game is incredibly overwhelming when you first start (it was for me and i started back in 05 when it was much more basic) so anything that helps new players learn and not get frustrated and quit will help the lifespan of this game.

I think something actually ingame would be better, some new players may not want to go on the forums, or they are just too lazy.

That maybe. Very true, it could work that way i guess, plus it would probably be easier to add, since its just a link to a forum topic instead of adding something into the game

i agree with Adonex when i had my first ascended server i didnt play it cause i didnt know how. when i ascend this time round ill have to get help from others in my alliance on how to play ascended

not enough people play ascended. im sure this is one of the reasons we should get a crack photoshop team togeather and make one! or even just make an interactive guide! it wouldnt be that hard

The vast majority of the forums are accessible for reading to anyone...
registered or otherwise... and [google-bot] is not a registered user in my mind...
Athough perhaps you meant open sections as anyone can reply?
I think the spam-bots are steadily forcing the admins' hands on that one...
Which brings me to my next great idea for phpBB:
An admin option for captcha traps for your first 50 or so posts / private messages / etc...
We could probably drop half the security protocols on my alliance forums
with that one improvement...
Our boards are also phpBB, and it was actually hacked at the admin level some years,
and many updates ago... with an unknown user actually deleted...
ever since we have battened down the hatches like a submarine...
though now mostly because of spam-bots...
and yes, anyone else who knows of a true hacking on an alliance forums,
by all means, I'd love to chat...
When, not if, but when we finally get a section around here devoted to security related issues, by all means feel free to copy this post over there...
