To The Old Timers

Do any of you have problems getting past some of the history here?
There are times when I find it hard to be on the forums without some of the friends who have died since I started playing as well as others who turned out to be quite the opposite.
I was reading through the archived stuff and can't get over how reading posts from guys like Hensenshi still pull a string from losing him.
So many friends that have come and gone over the years and it just seems like most of those that did so much, worked so hard to make the community a worthwhile place top hang out have either left or died and I'm sorry but it still bothers me.
Am I alone in this?

You're not alone, I considered God of Darkness as a friend, and it was really sad news when I did hear he died in a car crash, years ago.
As for people who have left, if I was to consider my longterm membership in AK, very few of the players from this empire are still playing/being around...the longer you stay here, the more the chances to know more people who have left than people who are still here, increases.
That also made me realize one thing, there might be many players who have died, but as they didn't have friends/family who knew they played this game actively and who would inform about such things, they couldn't let us be informed about it. This is rather scary thing to consider..

Wolf359 leaving and not being in the suggestions section cutting down all the silly ideas is a killer blow. Nobody was more influencial in that section for a very good reason.
However.... RahL is back!!!

It saddens me to know I share the name of a GW player who passed on.. I wore a medallion in my sig devoted to his memory despite never having known him myself.. a friend of his asked me to do so. I left it for at least six months after I took the name Zero.
Luckily enough for me.. I've never had any friends from this game pass away.. but I think if I did I would feel similar to how you do..
As for people leaving.. Due to me having been a part of many online communities, I'm rather used to the come and go of players.. and it has little effect on me.

Even though I wasn't the big players of the old days. I know what they did to make this forum great. They kept everything in line and make sure everyone who wants help receive it. They also did great in roleplay of this forum.

I know the feeling Acronon, I know the feeling.... and I think I can say it for all the (ex-)Magnificents out there.... we were very sorry to hear that DUDE CO, who albeit wasn't the biggest player was still quite known in his TGW-days, got killed in Iraq by something you could only consider a freak accident (bullet which tore apart his nameplate and launched it into his heart...).
Of course people like Hensenshi are also missed, and all those who normally left the game (aka, in good health (or as good as possible)). I've seen personally a few good friends leave....

There does not a day go by when I read these forums and miss Luc/God of Darkness. He was such an awesome person to talk to...
And when ever I look through the rankings and forums I miss my old gang so much. eX, Svarun, Madcat, Killy, Sphere, Raven_, blahhh and the rest of them. We're lucky to have brdavs, Thamuz and Couzens here still left of the old group.
But then I think of my current gang and that's the reason I play. But I'd love to have all the old friends here with us.
Hensenshi will always be greatly missed.
My old mates, Mujo, Legoless, Apollo, AA, Visentinel... I could go on for a while. And now Duderanch is also gone, didn't really speak to him often but he's fun to have around for some reason. He's a little bit like buck IMO. Buck is the all time hero of SGW, and is never allowed to leave.
I'd also like to mention Su, my old mentor, we didn't always see eye to eye but he trained me well and I always had my upmost respect for him. I'd love to see him return.
So yeah - I do miss a lot of people, but this is how it is. People come and go. I myself have left and returned. You never know who might come back.
Those who have passed away... may they rest in peace, I doubt we will ever forget about them. Their memory will live on.
-KJ

Never knew any of the people that have passed away that were apart of this community, but the amount of people that leave the forums for reasons other than illness and death that I've missed talking with and having banter with them.
But it seems, most of the people that leave by their own choice, always come back, even if it's only for a post or two.

You are not alone. I miss all of those who were great friends and have moved on in life. I never knew Hen or any of the others who have passed away, but I have only heard great things about them.

Ditto... I miss Hensenshi, Luc and the others that have passed away but also the ones that have quit the game. Like Hobbes Virgil Mojo Suzuk and my fellow DD brothers
